Bulleidboy
I have just pre-ordered a sound decoder from Hornby, but did not receive any Club Discount. I did not use any Reward Points. Has anyone else found this happening?
Brew Man
Probably a silly question, but were you logged in when you placed the order?
Robin-1237629
Looking at the new Collectors Club page I do not think the club includes a discount any more. Just extra reward points that can be used in the future. The page says the points are credited after 21 days on non-returned items.
DarkRedCape
The only reason I have the Collectors Club is for the 10% discount. If Hornby have done away with this, but just so happened to forget to mention it before we all sign up again, that’s pretty shady. The 10% off makes it ever so cheaper to buy direct than it does from retailers, but if the 10% is gone, so is my incentive to buy direct. This is something Hornby need to clarify immediately. Bulleidboy
I agree - I am absolutely sure it was still mentioned the other day?
Robin-1237629
I agree the 10% discount was the main benefit to the club. My membership was due for renewal on the day of the 2023 announcement but I could not renew. Not sure if I will bother now. Might be better to support the retailers assuming they can get the stock. Brew Man
They could be working on the premise that, if your membership has lapsed then you are not a member at the time of renewal and therefore not entitled to discount. I think it's worth phoning them though.
SteveM6
Reading between the lines, Hornby have switched from a discount scheme to a loyalty scheme - probably why they increased the reward points from 10% to 15%?Effectively saying buy something at full price now and get a discount on your next purchase. This year I got my preorders in the day before my membership lapsed so I got the discount and will, in due course, get points towards next year.Would have been nice if they had told us first though. Brew Man
Yes, the Club page no longer makes mention of the 10% discount, only 15% in loyalty points. Still, it's a decent enough saving I guess.
DarkRedCape
Maybe I just didn’t get it, but has an email about the Collectors Club being available gone out yet? Surely sending that out prior to it going live with details about the 10% would have been the right thing to do here.
Robin-1237629
Hornby seem reluctant to communicate about this. I did not receive an email to explain that I would not be able to renew my membership in January nor have I received one to say that the 2023 is now available. You almost wonder if they realise some members will not be happy!
Howbi
Club members will now get a 15 percent discount as Reward points, that's better than the previous 10 percent but you will have to wait 21days before you can benefit by buying another product. Brew Man
And of course you can only get money off using the rewards from the second purchase onwards.
DarkRedCape
I’ve not used any of my points as of yet, but can you only use your points as a whole lump, or can you add any amount you choose? Say if you had £50 and only wanted to add £15.
96RAF
Hornby inform us that Club discounts have changed and recommend looking at the linked pages..............Both clubs will now be offering enhanced reward points, instead of the 10% or 15% discount previously included. This is however only for new members or renewals, so any existing club members will still receive their discount until expiry. The Collector Club will now offer 15% back in Hobby Rewards points. The Hornby TT:120 Club will now offer 20% back in Hobby Rewards points. The new offering is clearly stated on both club pages, with no mention of the previous instant discounts.Hornby has noticed a few forum threads where customers are still expecting the previous discount.https://uk.hornby.com/community/hornby-clubhttps://uk.hornby.com/community/hornbytt120-club
DarkRedCape
Why is this worded as if their complete lack of communication on this subject with no mention of any of these changes prior to the Collectors Club going live is somehow our fault for not knowing any of this information? 96RAF
I have no idea. I simply took their offering and paraphrased it onto here. The gospel is on the linked pages.
Kim-344602
The Collector's club is now a joke. Had Hornby been more forthright about removing the discount, I would not have joined. Just wish there were a way to unjoin. Sorry Hornby, you have just got rid of the best reason for joining and for buying Hornby rather than the other brands. Brew Man
Well the discount has been replaced by an extra 10% in reward points, which is more or less equivalent to a 10% discount. Apart from the first purchase they can be used against subsequent purchases. You can 'unjoin' simply by not renewing you subscription. Shouldn't think you could change your mind mid-term and expect a refund, but you could call them to check.
DarkRedCape
The Collectors Club Reward Points now 15% back, so it’s better than the 10% discount in terms of straight percentages. However, I think I’d rather them have just upped the discount to 15%.

BCG_UK
The standard 10% reward points can be earned by non-members (for free), collector club earns 15%, and TT club earns 20% - if I read the rewards page correctly.https://uk.hornby.com/hobby-rewards
Moccasin
If you’re a member of the TT club with the 15% discount, you don’t receive that on non-TT items like the decoders, but do receive the 10% back in reward points. I think the standard collector’s club members do get discount/enhanced points on decoders. Not sure if you can be a member of both or, if you can, whether the reward points are applied to a single account.
