ModelerXYZ
That was 160 years ago. So I doubt he is still alive, but his model railway company lives on.
DarkRedCape
There was a show on TV about the history of Hornby, I think it was on the Yesterday channel, and I forget the shows name, but it was fascinating to learn how he built his company and how popular it was. So, thanks Frank, happy birthday.
What About The Bee
The oldest person ever whose age has been independently verified is Jeanne Calment (1875–1997) of France, who lived to the age of 122 years and 164 days. If Frank Hornby was alive today, he would break that record by 37 years, 201 days. Not very likely.Happy Birthday Frank. Bee

My name is Bond
Frank Hornby did not live long enough to see the launch of the companies OO range in 1938.Given that Hornby TT:120 was 5 years in development he may have seen the start of the initial development of the Hornby Dublo 00 range. But in house development lead in times at the factory in Liverpool we’re much shorter then than they are today. After all products were simpler with less detail and they could be taken apart and reassembled with their nuts and bolts construction.Wonder what he would have made of todays products? wairoalbany
Thankyou Frank. I may complain about your company, but overall I enjoy it immensely.
Stubaggieboy
Somebody correct me if I’m wrong but I thought Hornby as we know it today was started by Lines brothers in Richmond as a cheaper alternative to Hornby Dublo which then became Triang who then merged with HD to become Triang Hornby in 1965 I think, then the Triang was dropped in the 70’s to become Hornby. So I just wondered what Frank Hornby had to do with Hornby as it is today, apart from the name ??
