Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

Recommended Posts

Another Pannier tank, this time a Graham Farish OO gauge model, in GWR green.  Lovely runner, hopefully this one's motor stays intact!  Having said that, the Hornby is now running well with the motor transplant.  Thing is, the Hornby model is relatively easy to find spares for, not so sure about the GF, haven't checked the state of the brushes yet........

R9289 No.2 Edward the blue engine and R9290 No.5 James the red engine. WD and LCDR as mentioned previously Hornby would not sell Thomas and Friends to Aus but Hattons did. They also had similar prices to Hornby's winter sale.

The Farrish OO pannier that I have (and at least one other I've seen) seems to have a modifies Hornby Doublo R1 chassis. would others know if this was truee for all of them?

If this is the case it may be possible to use Wrenn or Doubleo spares.

I've just received an Airfix (blue box with compact tension lock couplings) John Arnold wagon. I chose this version as I want the compact tension lock couplings and tiny spring steel strips to link two of the later GMR and Mainline B sets together.

I also wanted to do the same for a pair of Hornby B set but notice that the bogie has been re-tooled so it soesnt have the holder for the spring so will need to re-think that pair

and Buffer set X8075 which contains two sets of tender buffers. The two smaller ones may pass as replacements on some N wagons :-)

Bought a massive job lot at auction yesterday dirt cheap for a £120, mostly unused from new, the jewel of the lot is the v.rare Tri-ang Swedish 0-4-0 Shunter which usually fetches a small fortune nowadays. Also in the lot were enough points to build a major terminus. Think I am going to be very busy./media/tinymce_upload/528e91c09bf1b93eee15272984f266a6.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/efe6ffe51039cf7c73a59d6de967ba1a.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/e64a9bc93573c969db6196c2f2e0ebbe.jpg

Fantastic find!  Is the rare Swedish shunter the red diesel?  How rare are they?  I have one in the Triang set that has the hand held battery controller and freight cars similar to the one photo you have of it (one flat has 2 autos on it).  The loco runs beautifully after a cleaning and service!

It is indeed the red shunter. The Swedish diesel from the unpopular play series introduced in 1969 is a very rare model.  The last one I saw fetched around £100 on an online auction site!

Thank you for the information!  Now I may end up selling that set, as it would help towards getting a nice, used Duchess loco or something!

Just bought this a Jouef 231C pacific in brown in what appears to be very good condition but with a bit of a squeek when turned by hand. This is very much a nostalgia trip since one of these was my second loco of which I still have the motor so if this wont go I've got a spare!

Another bonus is that it is complete , my original did not have a tender or smoke deflectors so ran with a bodged hornby Brit tender.
