citroenzxdriver
Afternoon all sorry if this might offend, but can a "digital fitted" loco be converted to run on old fashion 12v DC as I've not yet moved into the 21 century. best wishes for Christmas and the new yearGary
poliss
It can be by removing the decoder and replacing it with a blanking plug, but you don't really need to as a DCC loco will run quite hapilly on a DC powered layout.
walkingthedog
That's right. I have several DCC fitted locos that run like a dream on my DC layout. All new DCC locos will run on DC unless DC running has been deactivated, but that will only occur if the loco is pre owned and the previous owner deactivated it. If this has happened or for some reason the DCC loco doesn't work the decoder can be unplugged and replaced with a blanking plate.
ModelerXYZ
It will work on a normal DC layout. I converted a few trains to DCC before I actually made the switch the first time, and keptthem running on my anolouge railway. Now they are in Australia and I am not, but if I get them sent to me, they will work on my current anolouge as well. Its only when technology gets newer old models can't keep up. Woody52
As everyone else has stated, your DCC Loco's can be run on ordinary DC Systems. The exceptions are that some DC systems have feed back and can't be used. If your DC Controller has Pulse Power for low speed control make sure it is turned off. 2 of my locos worked very eratically with the B'Mann DC Controller that comes with their train sets, I never bothered to investigate or try more locos on it as I have several diferent power supplies.Peter
Teedoubleudee
Isn't there a CV setting to turn off DC running, or did I dream it?

Teedoubleudee
The only reason I mentioned it is if the OP did leave the decoder in the loco and the CV was set to not run on DC ..................
Yelrow
Just for my benefit, it was my understanding that unless previosly, fiddled with, all makes of DCC loco, will run on dc. All mine do. john

Graskie
DC has to be enabled on DCC locos before they can operate on it, something they can quite often do by default. Trouble is, if not enabled (CV29) you need a DCC system to program it to do so.
poliss
A few of the older N gauge DCC decoders could not run on DC.DC enabled is the default setting on decoders.
