  1. Chrissaf - I would be the last person to comment on your wiring diagrams, but just thought I would mention that DCC Concepts set up a test rig for the operation of a Dapol Semaphore signal in conjunction with the Cobalt Digital iP point motor - this posting has nothing to do with the point motor - but they found the signal worked perfectly with DC power up to 12v, and that 3v-9v was a good conservative supply - they used 5v DC on their test rig. You may be aware there were numerous problems with the signals. DCC Concepts said they would never use AC power with these signals. Very surprisingly Dapol's instructions still say 16v AC to power the signal - well it did on one I bought recently. BB
  2. I have the Hornby Elite and it works fine. It may not be used to such extremes as some, but it does what I want. I do not have any Hornby TTS sound loco's, but do have other makes. What some forget is that the TTS sound kit is a lot cheaper (under £40), than most other sound equipment available on the market. It is a digitally produced sound, whereas others are actual sound recordings of actual loco's. I have a Class 205 Thumper 2-car unit with sound fitted, it sounds just like the real thing (they ran locally to me), but it cost about £100 - sound decoder and speaker. I personally, don't think you would be disappointed with either the Elite or TTS sound. Before buying, find a dealer that can demonstrate the operating equipment to you before parting with your hard earned.
  3. I have one of the powered Dapol Signals, which uses a 9v PSU, but is operated by being wired into a Cobalt Digital iP point motor - when the point changes, so does the signal.
  4. Happy trainspotters cop Nederland Lines as she arrives at Wykeham for the first time. https://flic.kr/p/22jg8eR
  5. Oh dear! More expense...... 😆 I agree - the ships appear to have found a shortcut which enables them to arrive in the UK earlier than expected! In fairness the Hornby shop has said for sometime that if ordered early in December you would get the model by Christmas. I'm just hoping the H Class with Pull/Push Carriages Pack is not on the same ship.
  6. Received an email from Hornby yesterday to say that the new Merchant Navy Class "British India Line" had arrived and would be despatched shortly. It should have said that M/N Class Nederland Line had arrived - R3566.
  7. Belated thanks Chrissaf - another job to add to the list. A lot cheaper (by a mile) than the Noch version. Thanks once again.
  8. The stupidest of questions, but how did you get it out of the box? Mine arrived today, but assuming the packaging is as usual, box containing loco in a sleeve - I cannot get the box out of the sleeve. I haven't risked brute strength as I don't want to tear the box.
  9. Where do you get this particular make - Oatley Electronics negative ion generator - I see that all of the ones on ebay are 12v - and are Chinese. I note that many of his bits and bobs came from Bunnings - we have one in Basingstoke - it opened today.
  10. I was thinking of buying one, so if this is an easy build I'm in - please add my name to the list. Thank you Chrissaf. Just watched the YouTube link - first class.
  11. Hopefully you will not be disappointed; they are superb! Will be interested in your comments! 😀 I think they look very good, in fact superb. I have no concerns whatsoever (as do certain Forums!) whether there is rivet missing underneath - I am not an expert, as are some (supposedly) - this is a hobby, and if I like it, that's good enough for me.
  12. My two sets of Kernows Gate Stock Carriages arrived today, but I've been busy today, and as yet have not had time to open the parcel - a treat for tomorrow.
  13. Prior to adding lighting, I've just given the Scalescenes Shillingstone station building interior, two coats of matt black primer, when dry, two coats of grey primer, and finally a coat of white emulsion - end result, no light bleed through the resin walls and roof.
  14. A better picture of the lamps. https://flic.kr/p/Xji2HU
  15. Very much an interloper! 😆 The Flikr link works and scrolling eventually leads you to 35028! PS Working station platforms lamps I see? 😀 The platform lights are the Ratio SR Concrete Platform Lamps that have had very small LED's inserted in the shades - nobody makes a powered version - so I did it myself. There still in existance on Corfe Castle Station and maybe elsewhere. My Flickr account is all model railway - so no problem with public viewing.
  16. An interloper on my Southern layout. Not sure that Flickr works on here?
  17. My Sir Willliam A.Stanier FRS steamed in with the postman this morning - managed to intercept him while SWMBO was in the shower! Good price too, under £162.00. Not sure it fits in with my southern locos - but it does look good.
  18. Yes, it's a nice loco the Royal Alex I have the later Hornby version of it. I have the Hornby version too - DCC Ready - it's a nice looking loco. It was also named The Brighton Evening Argus. I'm not sure why they changed the name - someone will give the reason? I've just Googled it, and it would appear that it was Brighton Evening Argus in 1980 and then became The Royal Alex in 1992.
  19. You will probably find that Peters Spares will have the smoke deflectors and you could try Fox Transfers for the nameplates - which would probably be etched brass - better than the originals. Is this the loco that is currently on ebay - if it is, it looks very nice, and you could bring it up to full spec. very easily. Best of luck.
  20. Err, Vespa his second sentence 😆 But yes I do appreciate he didn't actually say the Viaduct kit but that is the thread topic! Sorry - I missed that. Must read more carefully!
  21. Nobody mentioned by name the Metcalfe Viaduct Kit - it is twin track 725 long x 146 high and costs £12.99 - you could easily adapt two kits to make the length you require. As has alrady been said card kits, if made properly are very strong, and additional strengthening can always be added when building and if required.
  22. Three Hornby BR (SR) Mk1 Coaches with lights. Two came from a "boxshifter" sale and one from ebay. All new. R4607, R4609 and R4609A.
