  1. I hope you managed to get the original one repaired? My latest aquisition - another Merchant Navy Class - I think I now have twenty three - only seven to go!
  2. That's what must be on the way R3290 2HAL. I see my supplier is showing one left in stock.
  3. Just had a notification that "something" is on its way! I have five Hornby items on pre-order, but have no idea what's coming - I do like surprises!
  4. P*c* Turntable arrived this morning along with a Labelle lubricating kit.
  5. Mine arrived with the postman this morning - a very nice model. That leaves only five items left to arrive from the January 2014 orders.
  6. Just had an email notification from MRD in Bristol, that my order has been picked - will normally get a further email to say it's been shipped - but what!! This will be the third this month - could be the 2-HAL in BR Green. I think Simon Kohler said at the beginning of the year, that it was Hornby's aim to get everything announced in 2014, delivered in 2014 - I'm getting worried that he might be right.
  7. Just had notification from MRD that the last of my January 2013 pre-orders is on its way (R3207) - be interested to see whether the price is as quoted at the time of order? A bit worrying that the 2014 orders are already starting to trickle through.
  8. Just had an email to say something else I pre-ordered is on its way! Do you think there is any chance of the Chinese workers having a one month strike?
  9. A bunch of bananas - it really was. Sorry, couldn't resist that. Back on track - have just ordered the baseboards to start building my model railway - only five and half years late, but there really is a large light at the end of the tunnel - (PP with a torch!) - and a loco could be moving by October 2014.
  10. I thought you were taking this thread over Vespa - Lol. I think a few on here might be soon in the same position, as it appears Hornby's deliveries are improving. My 1960 Brighton Belle arrived the other day, now I see the 2-BIL with yellow warning panels has hit the shops, and it would appear the P2 Special Edition could be here this month. The P2 will be the last of my 2013 pre-orders. One of the 2014 pre-orders is now listed for 2015 delivery, but that's not far away.
  11. R3160XS West Country Class - Wincanton - with sound arrived today - very nice. Ordered January 2013.
  12. Hi Graskie That sounds (excuse the pun) a nice loco. I'm still waiting on Hornby back-orders, so nothing new for sometime - at least the bank balance will be ready for the onslaught. BB
  13. Funnel!! Hi cooped - you've been across the water for to long - ships have funnel's, trains have chimneys (this should start a thread on it's own). I haven't take an A4 apart, but the Hornby Merchant Navy loco's have different spacing inside the body when you compare the original Super Detail models with those either DCC fitted or ready, and there would be to much cutting involved to alter an early one. However as R2339 is DCC Ready and Sparrowhawk is a late model there should be no problems.
  14. I have R2339 Mallard, and I've had it for years. It is DCC Ready and a Super Detail model, and if I had to guess, I would say it was released in about 2007/2008. I'll check my back catalogues. It most certainly is not a new release or anything to do with The Great Gathering/Goodbye. I have just checked and it was introduced as R2339 in the 2004 Hornby Catalogue.
  15. Graskie said: My father-in-law today presented me with an LED/KRYPTON HEADLIGHT - SIX LEDs AND A HIGH OUTPUT KRYPTON BULB (made from kryptonite?) for my birthday yesterday. You strap it round your head. I suppose I could go mining with it.....for gold, of course! Well there's one thing we can be sure of - Superman will not be visiting Northampton!
  16. cooped said: Over 500 entries on a thread about what we just bought in a little over a year. We are just a tiny slice of the whole so the hobby can't be struggling that much! May be we're the only slice! Hope not.

  18. Graskie said: I should keep it quiet really, PJ, but 46 at the last count. How many amps would I need to work all of them at the same time? Greed...........sheer greed! So when the lights dim in Northampton, we'll know your running everything!
  19. Hi Graskie Brilliant choice of the Merchant Navy Class - the other one's not bad!
  20. I bought a H&M Clipper Controller off of ebay - it arrived today - looks new and works fine.
  21. Yes they are special editions - I meant that the loco in the box will be the same, whether its Great Gathering or Goodbye - the outer box will of course be slightly different. I have two A4's, Mallard - it's like Flying Scotsman, you have to have one, and Golden Plover - both Super detail models and very nice, but I don't need any more.
  22. Well four of the six are on the auction site. Whether there Gathering or Goodbye doesn't matter as it's only packaging. I expect Hornby sold-out on the weekend sale. They will continue to appear on the auction site over the next few months, and at far higher prices than Hornby were charging . Perhaps Hornby should have staggered the release of these loco's - but then buyers would have started moaning about the delays in completing the set/collection.
  23. The collection gets bigger! R4306A SR Maunsell Passenger Brake Van C No.S664S SR Green R4306B SR Maunsell Passenger Brake Van C No.S652S SR Green
