  1. I have no other coaches on pre-order - the Mk2s are all that I have my eye on and they’ll be a good use for my reward points. I use the Hornby shop partly because of the BA Avios points I get (5 Avios to the £) but also because of the reward points and their excellent customer service. *subtly hides his pre-order for the IFA wagons hoping that @PeterM67 won’t notice them*
  2. Good job they don’t do Stonehenge….
  3. Because even with postage charge they were still cheaper with the 15% club discount that was prevailing at the time. It also protects from the price rises. Hornby raised prices by about 15% around this time last year. A phone call to Hornby usually gets the shipping charges removed.
  4. Customer Services will be busy over the next couple of weeks with all the calls about the individual shipping charges…
  5. They don’t seem to. Crafty …. people… not sure that’s made clear. Like I say though, I intend to cancel as I just don’t read it enough. I subscribe(d) to Rail magazine on my iPad too and don’t really read that much any more either. Becoming more of a FOMO issue I think!
  6. Thanks - I’ve bought the magazine anyway as I wanted to have the physical copy. It didn't show up through the app, although I do subscribe via Apple rather than direct so maybe that’s their revenge!
  7. Yes my 08 had an unfortunate collision with a floor due to my carelessness (can’t even blame the cat!) - one of the buffers was snapped off and they fixed that FOC - I was very grateful and it is one of the reasons I buy direct.
  8. My credit card may disagree with the “all-good” comment, but yes it’s good to see them in stock. Next on my pre-order list is the Class 50. I think there’ll then be a gap of a few months until things start arriving in the autumn. It’s possible I’ll use reward points to buy some Mk2s for Leviathan (points do mean prizes after all!). The points from the HST should come through next week, so I’ll have about £120 worth. Worryingly, the direct implication of that is that I’ve spent over £1000 on TT in the space of about 12 months. I’m not sure that telling myself that it would have been £150 or so more without the club discount is enough of a mitigation!
  9. I think it’s generally best to call. They can always give you a direct email address if they want a photo.
  10. Still worth asking Hornby,as they might still do an out-of-warranty repair.
  11. It’s not completely dissimilar to the one I developed as an option for my layout a few weeks ago, except that my station is intended to be a diagonal terminus in the middle to achieve more platform length. The left hand single track oval was envisaged as an avoiding/freight line and the right hand as a double track mainline.
  12. I’m sorry it seems that way. I think the TT content is just because there’s more happening in that gauge right now and there’re a few of us who’re every engaged in its growth. It will no doubt change when OO releases come through. There was a lot of OO chat when the P2s arrived and there’s a steady flow of posts on DCC, HM7000 & OO, it’s just that TT120 modellers probably feel more at home here
  13. No I don’t really understand why they have that there, but if you have double track extending away from both ends, it’s a shorter arrangement than back to back left hand and right hand crossovers. Trying to understand the logic of some of the track plans is probably a pointless exercise!
  14. Yes I think some layout examples are more proof of concept than ones they would expect building. The double track platforms on the left seem “somewhat” short, while the one below is reminiscent of a mountain railway with switchback.
  15. Just noticed that Hornby state that they have got more what they call Large Full Layout track plans coming.
  16. It’s an interesting arrangement and one that could be useful for a fiddle yard at the very least.- could even replace the 2 6th radius curves with additional points.
  17. At least they’re not on the top shelf. I’m not sure which I am more self-conscious of browsing in the shop - Hornby Magazine or Attitude! I’ve not looked at Railway Modeller for years. I used to find it a bit staid. Never looked at BRM to my knowledge (other than as an annoying pop-up on RM Web).
  18. With apologies to those who haven’t yet seen it, the new TT120 Catalogue includes some track plans. Presumably these are a precursor to a future track plan book. While not wanting to dissect the plans in minutiae, there are a couple of interesting features. One of the track plans uses the 1st radius quarter curves on the sidings to achieve separation to accommodate the platforms (2nd -4th radius quarter curves are apparently on the way) The other creates an offset scissors crossover with 4 points, a diamond crossing and 2 of the 6th radius curves. This might not be very prototypical but does achieve the crossover in a shorter space than 4 points back to back and might therefore be useful in some layouts.
  19. Who’s teasing now…
  20. Please be aware that the digital subscription version of Hornby Magazine does not include the catalogue. You’ll have to wait for Hornby to upload the PDF to their website. I actually intended to cancel my subscription but messed up. I prefer it to the other two main railway model magazines but still find I don’t read much of it. I might revert to buying individual issues if they have articles etc that interest me.
  21. I’ve wondered elsewhere if these are intended to fill the TT6018-21 gap in the wagon range. As you say, with these unlikely to arrive until 2025, the 66s will have nothing else to play with. A multipack would be a great idea. I’ve got two on order for now. I like @StuLarge‘s idea of separating the containers from the wagons too - I’ll probably want to get some spares if I decide to have a mini container terminal.
  22. Maybe they’re the KFAs. I wonder whether they were originally planned to be released with the 66, but slipped back so they brought in Arnold’s IFAs as a quick win.
  23. While in danger of over-analysing the catalogue further (me over-analysing? Surely not!?), it seems odd that they include upcoming sound profiles for the 31, 37 and 47 but not the 9F or Castle, even though the 9F and Castle are both implied to be arriving sooner than the 47.
