  1. It needs a short straight at 9 o clock to line up the tracks at the top. Is that what you are saying Rob. A bit of flexi would do the job. No need to use different radius track. I doubt the track in the photo is Hornby.
  2. Traction tyres should only be on one side of the bogie. Power is picked up on the right side on one bogie and the left side on the other. The unpowered bogie has no traction tyres.
  3. I guess it's because Jouef track is a different geometry to Hornby track. The left half of the circle is 4 R609's. The right is 3 R609's and 2 R8075's. Obviously the two curves on the points are longer than an R609. Perhaps you should use Jouef track.
  4. I think acetone will remove paint and may damage plastic so be careful when using.
  5. All I know is my Gaugemaster has a very quiet hum that can be heard if I listen carefully. My locos have never buzzed, hummed or done anything other than move along. 😆
  6. I like the way Lendons is laid out Chrissaf.
  7. I've always used Lendons. ChrisBeadling this could be chance to be famous.
  8. There probably are fans but are unlikely to be on here. 😆
  9. Surely it is nothing to do with Hornby or the mods on this forum.
  10. We only hear about the bad ones is very true. Of all the new 00 locos I purchased, well over 160 from most of the producers, only one didn't work straight out of the box, a J94, the gears didn't mesh, I had to put a spacer under one end of the motor. All gone now except for four I kept to display for personal reasons. Have got 10 new 0 gauge locos though, they all worked fine as well.
  11. When I said solder is best I was referring to the track not the controller. 😆
  12. No. Attach two wires to the controller and attach them to the track using any method you like. Solder is best but not the only way.
  13. Keith my suggestion would be to buy a quality controller. Then you won't have to put up with unwanted noise and you will find control of the locos at any speed is perfect.
  14. That is the problem I agree. Fine detail is very nice but not at all practical. I don't have this problem any more dince I changed to 0 gauge. The fine bits are bigger.
  15. Hey that was just my opinion, no need for a lecture. I'm afraid there is bound to be problems as the detail gets finer and finer. 😀
  16. Same here GWR. Considering the journey involved to reach us it is a wonder they arrive in one piece at all. I agree with Rob/RAF, a quick check for loose nuts, bolts and screws is always worth doing particularly if the locos are to be run at a fast speed, which mine never are. This should be done whe ever a loco is to be used.
  17. Perhaps Henry is very popular, it's a nice size being a Black 5, so people aren't getting rid of it. Also when somebody decides they don't want Thomas locos on their layout, Henry is ideal for converting back to a Black 5 with a coat of black paint. One will appear eventually I'm sure.
  18. Probably because Hornby don't make them any more and those that have them are holding on to them.
  19. I am a bit confused by the title. Is it the controller or loco that buzzes?
  20. I know DC controllers hum, my Gaugemaster version does, but I can't say I have heard a loco buzz. Never had that occur. Perhaps they do with Hornby controllers, does seem a bit odd. Gaugemaster use PWM.
  21. I used to drill a hole up through the foot/leg and insert a short piece of thin wire, then plug them in to the layout.
  22. PVA. What are the figures going to do once fixed. If nothing then PVA.
  23. I reckon there is a matching one on the other side of the loco to compare it with.
