  1. There are lots of pictures of it with the supplied tender. It had the corridor tender from April 1928 until April 1929.
  2. Yes I agree about the switch but I found a good CDU overrides any friction the switch causes.
  3. New addition, lineside hut. /media/tinymce_upload/8b558beddc8f7b29f7d1c96535f17e77.jpg
  4. Not just loco wheels, rolling stock as well. If the wheels are plastic they will spread dirt like a vacuum cleaner in reverse. 😀
  5. Basically I guess the technology of a metal rod moving back and forth inside a coil has't changed over the years Colin. I used them for years on my old loft layout without any problems but they do need a CDU. My points are now changed handraulically. Might use wire in tube eventually. 😀
  6. There might well be. I use a tool that looks like a key. /media/tinymce_upload/a3806f8324569678ffaf2fa7febffd49.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/aea3cf905c6424fcf7238932aea03a74.jpg
  7. PL-10 is about forty years old. Came with a short operating pin plus an extension pin, the long pin version PL-10E has been around for years. The PL-13 does work with the PL-10 (short pin).
  8. How easy do you find using the couplings. Its fairly easy on O gauge but much bigger of course?
  9. I'd have thought it would take a great deal of weight to break a 3 link coupling unless the links are made from a poor material. Have you tried pulling the chain apart with pliers. Bet it would take a great deal of heaving.
  10. I clean mine thoroughly about once a year and dirty bits when they appear. I use Isopropyl Alcohol and a cloth. Cleaning wheels is far more important.
  11. What scale are you running?
  12. Thanks Fishy. Smaller locos are about the same price as larger OO locos. The most expensive things are accessories like sheep and figures etc. 😆
  13. Same space as the OO layout. 8x8ft. As for funds, sold the OO and used that. Simples
  14. Got as far as I could with OO and had far too much stuff and getting older, easier to see. 😉 Last diesel I bought a small CL05 weighs a Kilo. Nice and chunky.
  15. But wages today are far higher in equivalent to 1956 so a loco would cost a much higher percentage of a wage then than now.
  16. I used to have that loco and it was very noisy and nothing I did made it quiet. Got rid of it in the end.
  17. I didn't spot the Hall decoder as that would be perfect.
  18. You need a two cylinder loco so I reckon the J36 TTS decoder will do. Only problem will be the whistle might sound wrong. Different regions had different sounding whistles. Might sound OK though.
  19. Lift out, may well become drop down later.
  20. Yes sorry about that. The flap, /media/tinymce_upload/3e046a611d849fcec400f36c14f948d3.jpg
  21. For those that are interested here is a very short video of arun round the circuit.
  22. Does it have grooves in any of the wheels to take traction tyres. Also does it have a heavy weight inside.
  23. I was never really bothered by lights on my locos. On several I disconnected the cab lights, they looked too bright.
