  1. Nice set-up, Alberto, congratulations Rod
  2. Both m-duck’s layout and the one created by ‘ speedtriple’ are great to view. Well done to both of you. My layout is also in the conservatory, consisting of around 3 metres of Kato track! I call it ‘window-by-the-sill’. The cat loves it (I think). She certainly tries to ‘stroke‘ a loco as it goes by in a push and pull fashion lol. One day, perhaps, I will be able to find somewhere to have a proper layout
  3. A set of new nameplates etc. for my Railroad County class loco. Also a Zimo sound card for this 2 cylinder machine. For a lower-priced model, it really looks good and sounds great. An extragavance perhaps, but I am mightily pleased with it. Very little space for the chip in the loco, had to relocate the speaker to the tender. Rod
  4. Great photos of an iconic loco, thanks for sharing, makes me wonder if I should add this to my loco roster (my wallet groans). Used to stand on platform 1 at Paddington in the 1950s waiting for some of this class arrive. Really special. Rod
  5. /media/tinymce_upload/a131f4c95ee7c989945462a56ec7303b.jpgThanks Rob, for the picture info. I decided to use my phone (Samsung) to take photo. Now hope that it displays properly ( on Monday, of course). And Jimbo, the chip supplier (YooChoos) was extremely helpful. Have sent it back to them for inspection, they will contact me next week to discuss. But looks promising, fingers crossed. Anyway, hope that the picture will come out ok now. Rod
  6. Again, apologies to Jimbo, the USA tank is in BR black, late crest. Have to report that I fitted the sound card and speaker, worked beautifully, then......what’s that ‘orrible smell? Totally shorted out!! Will speak to supplier tomorrow, but am not hopeful of a positive outcome. They include a leaflet describing how these occurrences happen. I thought I had insulated everything, as recommended, but we will see. When it did work, the sound was great lol. Will post a picture separately edit. Just tried to download picture taken on my iPad, message says ‘not allowed’ oh dear Rod
  7. Sorry to Triumph owner for not responding sooner, yes , this is the Model Rail loco, I got it from their web offer. Still puzzling over the speaker, would need to be as slim as Twiggy in her prime to fit! Rod
  8. Bachmann USA tank, lovely model. Whilst at the London exhibition last Saturday, bought the yoochoos sound card to go with it. Nowhere to put a speaker........spoke to Bachmann, they stated they had never fitted a sound card so couldn’t help me! They suggested placing speaker in cab, so I asked them to how I could get the cab off - unable to help. Yoochoos show a fitting procedure on their website, but show the model stripped almost to its component parts, not something I want, or can do. Back to the drawing board.
  9. Hi all, thank you to Rob (RAF) for your sound advice, and also to Sultan for puttin the link to the YouTube video. I apologise for not responding sooner. I have followed Rob’s advice, and achieved really positive results. Shows the value of being a member of this great forum, there a a number of the members who really do point you in the right direction when advice is needed. The loco now runs in a much improved manner, and the sound is good, although a little quiet! I will juggle with the cv for this area. I am almost loath to do too much more to the model, every time I touch it, something falls off lol. i hope that Walter was able to source the decoder and wish him success in fitting it. Rod
  10. I was able to buy a class 47 TTS decoder at Ally Pally last weekend. The company was EKM Exhibitions, and their website is www.ekmexhibitions.co uk. I paid £33.50, which was a good price, I felt. I did enquire at the Hornby stand re this decoder, but they were unable to confirm when or if this would be re-issued. They eecommended asking the suppliers at the show, which is how i found this company. I also bought it for a Vitrains 47, sounds are good, but slow running very jerky, ok when at higher speed. Hope this helps. Rod
  11. At Ally Pally, bought a TTS decoder for my ViTrains class 47 and a youchoos sound decoder for my just received Bachmann ‘USA’ tank. Sold my Gadwall to helpfu d the purchases Rod
  12. Hornby Vent van with sound, only had a quick test, lots of interesting sounds! Rod
  13. As always, Jeremiah, splendid coverage of your model-making skills, always enjoy reading your posts (both here and on the Wrexham company’s website). Rod
  14. Just fitted the light bars and sound module to the Bachmann London Underground ‘S’ stock cars. Battery operated, motion-actuated, although the sounds and lights are a bit random! Noticed that just walking past the table they were on caused the action to begin. Hopefully, they will settle down soon! Rod
  15. Hornby R3615 Works Peckett ‘560’, lovely little model. Is a little hesitant at the moment, but I don’t have a full track to run it uninterrupted. Guess that does not assist running-in, so will have to build a temporary roundy-roundy to bed it in. A relative is a (small) shareholder in one of the few Pecketts still around, showed him the model and he was mightily impressed with the detail. Rod
  16. I don’t have the model, but would buy the set if one was issued, as my father was a lighting engineer on that film. When the movie was shown on BBC some time back, they also ran a documentary on how the film was made , and, lo and behold, there was my dad standing behind one of the enormous lights (it must have been about 5ft dia, as my dad only just peered over the top of it! So, I should really add this to my collection....... Rod
  17. Nice stuff. Jeremiah, your customer's painting comliments your product very well Rod
  18. I think that is a great choice, 81F, could also be used for the 4-6-0 Counties etc. I dont think there is a 2 cylinder TTS decoder at present, although I may well be wrong. Rod.
  19. just re-read my post on page 301 re number of pages SoT has been instrumental in generating...doh! meant to write '300', cant blame the iPad, just not proof-reading my own posts, and the other typo was also missed. So, apologies to all Rod
  20. Just want to say that we are now on page 200,and 3000 posts, great stuff, and thank you to S-o-Thor starting us all on this! Rod
  21. 3 21 pin decoders, 2 laisdcc and one dcc Concepts with stay-alive. The laisdcc will be paired on the Bmann LU set, and the dcc Concepts version being fitted to the Heljan Met Bo-Bo. Test run, and both seem to be very good Rod
  22. Solved the mystery of the Lt set running correctly when couples as a set, thanks to Caiptean (Colin) and Eric, thank you very much, chaps. I beg lack of knowledge down to not having a 2 car set previously. As ever, this great forum has a great depth of knowledge from the members Rod
  23. Just received the London Transport Museum/Bachmann 'S' stock set. Good looking model, pretty basic instructions though. As there are 2 driving cars, both need a dcc chip. I tested each motor car seperately, on DC, and ran perfectly, but I was a bit concerned as to how they would run at each end of the train. placed the pair on the track, unconnected, and lo and behold, they ran perfectly as a paired unit, phew!
  24. 3 Ratio MR suburban carriages, in kit form. Bought to utilise as Met stock to run behind my Heljan Met Bo-Bo ( forgot how shaky my hands are these days, might have a problem here!)
  25. Heljan Metropolitan BO-BO, ‘John Milton’. This is a lovely model, and when the Met have the steam days (sadly, all to infrequently these days) they run the preserved sister loco ‘Sarah Siddons’, and I walk round the corner to watch it go over North Harrow bridge on it’s way to Rickmansworth or Amersham. Now all I need to do is find some carriages to run behind it!
