  1. Well done, Choralc, perhaps, just perhaps, someone at Hornby Towers will give consideration to your efforts at bringing to their attention a desire for retro-fitting of TTS modules Rod
  2. Re APT-E, comes with limited edition certificate signed by Simon Kohler as well
  3. Just received the Locomotion/Rapido Trains APT-E, fabulous, almost too scared to take it out of it's packaging!
  4. Hi Choralc, sorry to hear you have been laid low, hope the hospital grub is up to scratch
  5. 2 Dapol Kitmaster blood & custard Stanier kits, plus some rather nice coach wheels from DCC Concepts, and Pat Hammond's fine 2 part British Model Trains catalogue. All from the Ally Pally show today, couldn't justify £120 for 3 LMS Coronation coaches, much as I would have loved to have them! Also met some nice people from Southampton MRS, who knew my late brother, took a picture to show my sis-in-law next week. Their display was one of the best at the show, along with the 3 rail HD layout but the standard was, to me, as high as ever with all the displays. The Hornby stand had 2 nice layouts, but seemed smaller than when I last went, as did the Bachmann and Dapol stands, perhaps a sign of the pressures these companies are under.
  6. Sadly, my beautiful 'Duchess' , received yesterday, has to be returned, as one of the metal tyres on the fixed Cartazzi truck is loose - thought I'd got 3 wheels instead of 2! Customer services were great, fixed up collection for replacement, Shame really, as I had mistakenly ordered 2 on different dates during December without realising the fact (pre joining the club) and they went straight back yesterday. This model was ordered to allow me to take advantage of the 10% club discount.
  7. Blimey, it's happened again, have we become a Twitter account, I ask? I'll give up on my ruminations on R3339
  8. Don't know what happened there! Most of my post has disappeared - oh blow
  9. Just received the 'Duchess of Hamilton', R3339, what a masterpiece (my opinion
  10. That looks great, Jimbo, shame it isn't being updated and re-issued. The Dapol version is due sometime, but there has been a long gap since these were last available
  11. Whilst visiting my daughter in Horley, stumbled across a lovely book/model shop. Couldn't resist the temptation, had a good browse. Only ended up with 1 item, a 'Oxford' 7-planker, nice model for the price. Was able to compare Bachmann, Hornby and this as they were all displayed next to each other, and to be honest, the only real difference seemed to be the price!. The shop was a real treat, I would have to travel out of the London area to Kings Langley (from Harrow) to find something similar.
  12. Not my region of first choice (coming from Middlesex) but it is such a lovely loco, couldn't resist. Another box to add to the selection, one day I might even get to run it properly! And, I have always had a soft spot for the Bulleid 4-6-0s, so got a Wrenn/Hornby hybrid of WC class too (Margate motorised tender with unmotorised Harlow body) goes very well. Body lines are as lovely as the Midland 'Coronations' to my eye. Rod
  13. Yesterday received 'Whitechapel' and Year Book, lovely items, highly delighted with purchases. Following others suggestions re club membership, took the (online) plunge, paid the annual fee,of £15, and with the total for the 2 items coming to £22.19, (post free!) a fabulous deal
  14. Sarah, your display is so lifelike, I am in awe of your skills, lovely job. One day I'll dust off the boxes of stock, and try a layout myself
  15. That is an inspiring layout, Norvern, I am amazed at the detail you have packed into the scene. Thank you for posting it, and dishing you a wonderful and healthy New year too
  16. Thank you for the comments, chaps. I do have a set of appropriate plates. WTD, but with a bit of a tremor when working at close quarters to the model, don't want to mess it up
  17. The BR (WR) County of Hants. Would have liked to alter to 1000 'County of Middlesex' but don't want to mess it up. I may even give it a trial run today! Would love the streamlined Duchess, but having received one when they were first issued, only to have to return it to the supplier as there was no dcc socket (or so it appeared when reading the installation instructions), the retailer refunded my money instead of advising that the instructions were incorrect and the socket was in the body of the loco. Oh blow blow blow. Won't buy from that retailer again
  18. Received the 'Toad' Guards Van on Friday direct from Hornby. Got a cracking price, should have bought 10 not 1! The postage cost more than the van. Lovely looking model too.
  19. Hope Admin doesn't mind me going slightly off-subject, but cyanoacrylate was in fact invented in Eastman Kodak labs in 1942,and sold by Loctite from around 1964. I was certainly selling it as a main-stream product in the early 1970's for production of some types of 'O' ring for sealing purposes Rod
  20. Sorry, just realised you wer the penultimate contributor on page 100
  21. Meant to say this yesterday, congrats on being the first to post on this forum, and being the last on page 100! Rod
  22. Hi everybody, interesting forum, been following the ups and downs (specially those French roads!). Had a look at blue rail, seems you need a new decoder, specific to that company's software, so Hornby's offering, for me, when it eventually arrives, will do me!
  23. That I do Graskie, ablation was considered as I suffered atrial flutter, but they are waiting till the ICD settles in, just so grateful to the CCUs at my local hospital and also Harefield, who fitted the device. Glad that it worked for you, and continues to do so for years to come (we are only 70 after all). Anyway, my 'Tornado' is a cracker!
  24. My wife is going out toniht, I might sneak my Christmas present back and give it a test run!
