  1. Belated 50th wedding gift from my lovely lady (only belated because the model I chose wasn't scheduled to appear on time!) was the Black Label A4, lovely looker, haven't had a chance to run it yet. I am one lucky chap
  2. Another Pannier tank, this time a Graham Farish OO gauge model, in GWR green. Lovely runner, hopefully this one's motor stays intact! Having said that, the Hornby is now running well with the motor transplant. Thing is, the Hornby model is relatively easy to find spares for, not so sure about the GF, haven't checked the state of the brushes yet........ Rod
  3. Very lmpressed with the H-D conversion, HB, lovely to see that great model being brought up-to-date, well done. Rod
  4. Having done some more research on the forum, have been able to identify the part for my Pannier, thanks to SoT and others, and have ordered a replacement (looks like a plastic moulding) and also a replacement motor complete, in case I have problems removing the old riveted holder. Overkill, I know, but would like to get this model up and running again. Rod
  5. Latest buy was a Hornby R401 Pannier sold as a 'poor runner, missing the chimney cap'. Paid about the right price for it, found a replacement for the chimney cap in my spares cabinet - lovely. Looked pretty good, considering it's age. Cleaned the wheels, removed all the track pins around the motor and magnet! , lubed the XO3 motor, running beautifully. Only needed new brushes, so this morning found the requisite brushes, removed the body, and......ping! The old brushes and spring came tumbling out! Oh blow, seems the ?paxolin'? Brush retainer snapped as I took the body off. So, either I buy a replacement motor, or make it a static model. Can't blame the retailer, the loco is late '70s, so will put it down to experience. Rod
  6. R3498 S&DJR Jinty, Railroad model, special price from Hornby, and R6776 Conflate and Container, for placing a Peco 'Lyons Tea' container on.
  7. Two LMS Coronation brake coaches, delighted to find them in Red, as blue seems predominant for this set.
  8. Hornby Power Booster, a bargain at less than £30 delivered from the famous shop , now resident in Widnes
  9. PJ, just checked your latest pictures, you have your layout coming on apace. Very impressive, thank you for posting the link Rod
  10. Lovely looking loco, LC, is this the Model Rail special? Rod
  11. Paul, your layout is great, lovely to see the progress you have made. Adding the locos and rolling stock gives the whole layout a new perspective. Well done, looking forward to seeing the progression Rod
  12. that's really good, look just the part, don't they? Rod
  13. Very impressive, BB, must be fun running the layout, makes me envious! Is the Clipper for a separate DC track, or for accessories? Rod
  14. Ah, I thought it was more sophisticated than my version (the old version with the weird valve gear) mine must have been a 1970/80s version. I have only been to Kneller Hall once, despite living in Brentford for 11 years back in the 1960s/70s. I guess it is still the RSMM, must visit again sometime
  15. Gosh, WTD, I remember having that model way back. Stupidly, I cannibalised the chassis to fit under the Airfix BoB kit, sticking boxpok overlays on the driving wheels etc. Still got it somewhere, but have never replaced the Hall, perhaps it's time!
  16. Hi 2e0, thanks for sharing your layout, really busy, most impressive. I can only look and be envious. Looks a large set-up, what size of room is it in?
  17. Really impressive, Phil, great work! I am envious of your skills, must be great fun to run the layout
  18. Very impressive, Paul. I have been following your progress with great interest, you certainly have a lovely layout, and great focal points. Look forward to more as you progress Rod
  19. Very impressive, Paul, you have created a great layout, with lots of interest and activity potential - good job you have got a big screen to follow it on, eh? is that a rubber keyboard I espied in the picture? Either that, or my screen is very distorted lol. Look forward to seeing more of your project.
  20. Like the video, BSB, very impressive.
  21. Not my era, Roy, but that really looks the part, doesn't it? I could be tempted, but really, really want the LMS Coronation rake to go with my 'Duchess of Hamilton'
  22. Hornby CCT in BR(E) livery, plus a copy of Railmaster and some fishplates - somehow ordered 2 packs instead of one, not worth sending back even though they are jolly expensive (£4 a pack). All from Hattons. I recollect that there has been a trading partnership between Hornby (in its various iterations) and this company since the Mecanno days, a long, strong tradition.
  23. Very impressive, RogerB, I am envious! I admire all of you folk who are able to create quite stunning layouts in relatively small areas. My layout is the windowsill to my conservatory, using Kato HO track. Gives the cat quite a startle when one of my sound locos comes from behind the sofa lol Rod
  24. Lovely, Choralc, great surgery there! Doesn't your scenic background look real, eh?
