  1. I watched some videos on YouTube a while ago of a guy using Arduino with JMRI. He built his own controller if I remember correctly. I'll post a link if I can find it...
  2. How do you have your layout wired? Have you removed the capacitor/s from the motor?
  3. What decoders are you using? Do both locos have the same decoder fitted? Also, which controller are you using with Railmaster?
  4. Have a look at Underground Eric on YouTube…
  5. I have recently bought an ESU Decoder Tester for that. It works well...
  6. That will never happen! face_with_rolling_eyes Lol... flushed
  7. You can use any TTS decoder you want in any loco. I guess the A3 & A4 sounds would be quite similar. I'm not sure about the Merchant Navy. Having said that, it has the same number of cylinders. I think the biggest difference might be the whistle sounds.
  8. Also, just for your info, Railmaster runs fine on a Mac under emulation. I use VMware Fusion, which is now free, with Windows 10. I have been doing this for about 15 years and had very few problems. You can also install Windows directly on your Mac with Bootcamp, unless you are using one of the new M1 Macs.
  9. Hi Everyone. I have just recently made use of Chrissaf's backup script to back up all my Railmaster data. I must say it works really well & I don't know why I didn't use it earlier. I urge everyone on here to make use of it & if possible copy the backup folder to a thumb drive or something similar to keep a copy off the computer. I was wondering, as the script backs up the Railmaster Activation info, if it's possible to use this file to run Railmaster on more than one computer without deactivating it. Obviously, I wouldn't running it on more than one computer at a time but just thought that this could be useful sometimes during fault finding or when testing on a new machine etc. Anyway, any thoughts welcome...
  10. I’m just about to have a go at making my own stay alives with some super caps etc. I am going to fit these to a couple of TTS decoders. I’m pretty confident I can solder ok to the decoders but I have a couple of old R8215’s I can practice on.
  11. I always run in my non DCC fitted locos on DC before fitting a decoder. The main reason for this is that if it has a running problem, it’s best to fix it before fitting a decoder. This is because it is easier to fault find just a mechanical fault or just a DCC running fault. I also now set up my decoders on a ESU decoder tester connected to my Elite & Railmaster while the loco is being run in. Anyway, just my way of doing things…
  12. Yes, I agree, from my experience. Not much you can really do with it… Just out of interest though, does it have a dot of coloured paint on it?
  13. Have you checked if they are momentarily shorting on the points rather than losing contact? I presume you are using Hornby insulfrog points…
  14. Thanks for posting the pics & schematics, guys. These things always come in useful even if others end up going in a slightly different direction...
  15. I’m planning on detailing & lighting the interior of (hopefully) most of my coaches. I have got together a variety of parts & components to try a few things. I am leaning towards using latching reed switches at this stage. The only downside I can see is price & availability. I’m also leaning towards using track power rather than batteries. I don’t want the interior of the coaches to be just brown either but the large majority of videos I have seen of people painting seats etc. just look terrible. There must be some way of doing a good job of this. Also, passengers need to be fitted but I don’t think these need to be the most detailed/expensive ones. Even something as simple as painting the inside of the roof white can make a huge difference but hardly anyone seems to do this. Anyway, just a few thoughts…
  16. I only have one Bachmann branded decoder, in a Bachmann LMS G2. I’m pretty sure it is a re-branded ESU decoder. It’s a beautiful runner but it was an absolute dog until I removed all the capacitors from the motor.
  17. I think you are being very ungracious. This is a community forum so the people here trying to help you are just other users donating their spare time. I have had no end of help on here. This is not a tech support forum. The Railmaster software is not always intuitive & it does have it’s quirks but let’s face it - it’s not that complicated! Especially if you go to the trouble of reading all the FAQs etc. available on here…
  18. Hi Everyone. Is it just my imagination or is the search function not operating? No matter what I enter into the search box, it just gives me all the latest topics!
  19. I know this topic was started quite a while ago. I hope ColinB is still around. I have a P2 but up until the other night it had only been run in on my rolling road. I had it running on a friends large layout going quite fast pulling 10 coaches, no problem. When it was running through the fiddle yard over multiple points you could see the front bogie bouncing about. It only actually derailed once. Anyway, if you could elaborate a bit of how you fixed it by glueing a bit of phosphor bronze on, that would be much appreciated.
  20. I want to get a Lord Nelson. I have 5 other BR Southern locos of that era. I run them with a rake of Hornby Pullmans, a rake of Bachmann Mk1s in crimson & cream or a rake of Hornby Maunsells in crimson & cream. I also have on order the 1st dining/kitchen car & the composite diner. I wouldn't want to be hanging by you know what waiting for Bachmann's Bulleid coaches. They were announced ages ago & still no idea when they will appear. Which is a bit of a pity actually...
