  1. Could not see a topic about possible requests for changes or improvements to the new forum. So have started this. My problem is that the font of the content, .e this paragraph, is very faint and with my poor eyesight I cannot read it unless I expand it quite a lot. The old forum font was fine. Would it be possible to make the font darker so that it is easier to read.
  2. Don't forget to ring Hornby and get a returns number before you send it back.
  3. Also agree with RAF. I used to enjoy looking everyday and placed the odd order. But life is too short to waste time going round various sites. i won't bother at all this year.
  4. I have the Hornby Hall in red. Mine runs fine and will pull 7 coaches with ease. I reiterate what Going Spare has said. Service and check the coaches for free running.
  5. I have a Dapol one, nice and solid and a very reliable runner.
  6. My Elink gets warm during a long session, but not too hot to touch. The Licence you bought was for Railmaster and nothing to do with the Elink, so if you do get a new Elink you do not need another licence. Hope this helps.
  7. The Red Button is perfectly normal. It is there in case a short happens that does trigger the "Short has occurred" message so that you can restart everything without switching RM/Elink physically off and on.
  8. Jimbo Hope you still manage to browse these pages occasionally and see how the new Hornby TT and Bluetooth controls develop. All the best for the future and take care.
  9. To use 1 laptop for both layouts you only need 1 version of RM Pro and 1 Elink. Just connect both layouts into the Elink. You will need to set up both layouts in the trackplan if you are operating points through RM. And make sure you do not use the same point addresses or Loco numbers across the layouts. For instance Loco numbers in layout 1 could be in the range 100-199 and layout 2 the range 200-299. Similarly for the point addresses.
  10. Alternatively you can run 2 independent layouts from 1 laptop running RM. I did just that for a while running a N gauge layout alongside my OO layout.
  11. Running Railmaster on a Dell WIN 11 Laptop with Elink. As I use my Laptop away from the Railway it is already on when I use it with RM. But as long as I remember to carry out the following sequence I never get any problems. Attach Elink to it's usual Comm Port.Power up the Elink.Wait for 5-10 seconds.Start RM.
  12. Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year.
  13. I remember, when being in the infant's school, our teacher had put a map of the world on the wall and we were following the Commonwealth tour that, as she was then, Princess Elizabeth was doing. Putting coloured markers for each place she visited. I remember being sad that we did not finish it. Then a year later the whole school went to a local Cinema to watch the film of the Coronation. The Queen worked extremely hard, carrying out the many functions that had to be attended, always with a smile. I am glad she managed to get to Balmoral, her favourite place, to see the hills one last time. May she Rest in Peace along with her lifelong love and companion, Prince Philip.
  14. @Brew Man 1 coach would be sufficient. Just have to put one of the couplers on the coach and one on a locomotive, assuming it has the appropriate NEM slot.
  15. Try this site. www.exacteditions.com/read/railwaymodeller It is a digital archive from the present back to 1949. They are ranged by decade, click on the decade and you get to the individual years and then click again on a year for the months. You can look at the front covers and if you click on one it brings it up in full page and then click on what looks like a page button below you can get to the index. You need to be a subscriber to read more but hopefully it might narrow your search down.
  16. Will Joking apart I do like your layout, wish I had the same amount of space. And I love the LMS loco pulling the crane. That must look a marvel trundling slowly along.
  17. Will You must be using some very strong Magnets there !!!!!
  18. That is so sad. I always enjoyed Chris's responses and elaborate explanations. His touches of humour were also very subtle. I expect he is up there now explaining how to wire up a reverse loop on a cloud.
  19. @St1ngr4y I use the Digitrains DS64 Point Decoder as I have Kato points with built-in motors. I tried some tests this morning. I had previously been running trains. I then closed everything down and switched all power off and left everything for an hour. I then disconnected the Elink from the PC and turned power on. I heard several clicks, I think 5. As my power switch is someway from my layout I could not see if any points moved. But I am pretty sure they were all as I had left them. I then powered off and on again and just heard 1 click. I tried several times leaving time gaps but only 1 click heard. I will run some trains later on and try again. Does anyone know if the same thing happens with the Elite.
  20. I hear the point(s) clicking whenever I turn the power on, even if I just power up the Elink with the USB lead not attached to the PC. I don't use Cobalt motors so assume it happens with all types. I have never checked which point(s) it happens to, but will have a look next time I start up. It has never caused me a problem as all my points go through the startup list anyway and get set correctly. And, if I remember correctly, my lowest point is in a set of sidings and I have small programs to set the routes out which are always run before a train departs. I will do some checking later on and try to see what happens.
  21. Find the R#### number on the boxes and use that to search ebay. I found an example of the Southern Belle set easily enough, although the auction had ended a year or so ago.
  22. I had a discussion with Margaret Sharp in mid-December about a slight problem I had with the cleaner so they were going fine then. Maybe they do what I used to do when I worked and taken a 2 week break in January. You could try emailing them at "sharp.deano@cannymarge.plus.com" They are usually quick to reply.
  23. But the Product description also says. Link the new and unique Hornby steam generator with the latest Hornby DCC sound decoder for a realistic experience to add to your model railway scene. Very confusing. But despite that I have also pre-ordered and I expect Hornby will clarify the position soon. Link the new and unique Hornby steam generator with the latest Hornby DCC sound decoder for a realistic experience to add to your model railway scene.
  24. @ Brewman I was referring to Hogwarts Castle, which is a locomotive from a fantasy series. I spent part of my youth in the 50's/60's trainspotting in Bristol so am very familiar with the Hall and Castle class of locomotives. Most of my collection is GWR based.
  25. You don't have to stick to the Hall TTS as it is not a real locomotive. I put in a Princess Royal Class TTS decoder as the whistle sounds are unusual and seem to fit in with the Hogwarts theme. My Grandson, a Hogwarts fan, loves them.
