  1. Hello gang, I’ve trawled through a lot of the good, bad and ugly threads regarding the various minor issues that customers have found with some of the Hornby TT120 A1/3/4 Pacific chassis and hopefully covered all of them here in my latest YouTube video. I think I’ve caught the main issues, but please add forum thread links to anything I might have missed. I’ve mainly focused on bogie de-railment of course, but here’s what’s on the video; 1. The Black tape. 2. The spring issues. 3. Wheel gauge/spacing. 4. Body detail fouling. 5. Mech/loco handling issues. 6. Grinding motor/gears.
  2. Pg7 in the “Indian Summer” addition of the club magazine says the ‘LNER East Coast Mainline’ will be released in October 24. 😥😥😥😥
  3. First thing to check on the A3's is the front steps. Viewing head on they should flare outwards so that the steps are horizontal. From the side they should be vertical or a tiny bit forward, definitly not swept back then check that the bogie clears them.
  4. Thanks for this info Rob. Very helpful. Yes I intend to run all of mine from an “accessory bus” powered by a separate power supply
  5. Now then, before anyone starts I was in two minds about whether or not this should be in with the DCC/HM7000 stuff. But I think it is just as relevant here in our safe little TT120 enclave. And I know it was touched upon in a Hornby Talk & our own Dodge did a quickie both on YouTube over 5 months ago, but here’s a more blow by blow for beginners on how to utilise the Hornby DC HM6010 accessory control for TT120 HM7000
  6. Silly silly silly idea. detracts from the model and also I personally use the Hornby side profile image on my loco ID in the HM7000 app
  7. I think a lot of people have had similar experiences, it’s certainly rewarding finding out what’s wrong and then being able to remedy the problem. I guess at this scale the tolerances are so close the slightest misalignment in production particularly with the hand added parts have a very real knock on effect. I’ve had the front bogie steps on all my A3’s off and put back on straight by me just so I can get the locos to traverse radius 4!!!! 😬
  8. Like an LNER class 43!😝 Come on chaps…. One of you insiders must have heard some rumours? 😉
  9. My money’s still on the LNER class 43 set
  10. Totally agree, it all makes business sense (to me at least) And yes the “British Pullman - Era3” had me puzzled…
  11. Ps we know that TT1004M will be an LNER liveried HST125. But I wonder what TT1003M will be? Maybe a BR liveried Princess Coronation with a rake of Pullmans?
  12. Now then…. October the 10th… 1 year on, what’s Hornby going to do to commemorate the occasion? I’m hoping that we will see TT1003M & TT1004M added to the website ready for pre-order. They seem to be the only Phase 2 items in the catalogue that have a code & description without photos…
  13. Sorry if I’m sounding a little frustrated chaps, but I’m just getting a little tired of being told I must be the problem and not Bluetooth connectivity with HM7000. TT you quite clearly are having exactly the same experiences as I & many others have had. Namely we have perfectly performing track and locos and have a reasonable expectation that they should work at a reasonable level of consistency when being controlled by the HM7000 app. Absolute fact of the matter is, every single issue I’ve had that couldn’t be resolved by checking & double checking all the basics such as cleaning track and wheels etc have been 100% resolved by fitting a stay alive.
  14. Rallymatt, hope you don’t mind me asking, but have you actually run a Hornby TT120 loco with a HM7000 decoder using solely Bluetooth? (ie not using any other DCC system) Because many, many, many, many, many of us have and it’s a simple truth that the Bluetooth connectivity is an Achilles heel in the system. One that is eradicated the moment a power bank/stay alive is fitted.
  15. No the Dapol ones also need ideally ti be on the straight although if the couplings aren’t exactly opposite each other they are a little more forgiving than Hornby’s. As for length I’ve gone with the medium arm, although I might have a go with the short.
  16. I’ve fortunately not had that problem so far, but I’ll keep an eye out for it. (Dropping and catching points)
  17. Ive had a look at some alternatives here; I’m rather taken with the Dapol N gauge system as these actually look more scale correct in 1:120. The fact you can decouple at the start of your sidings then push your wagons into place with clever electronics or the hand of God I think definitely outweigh the cost.
  18. Regarding Roco fishplates, I found them easy to match Roco/Fleischmann to Hornby but I couldn’t get them to fit Peco
  19. Sam… Laugh or cry, click or scroll on… I doubt very much that his throw away comments will have a lasting impact. For me it’s just something on whilst ironing. 😁
  20. First thing to do is contact Hornby. They’ve been super helpful for me. As for spares I’ve seen a guy called Peters spares on eBay selling off parts from A1/A4 chassis. I think he’s buying 2nd hand and harvesting though and he’s sold all that he recently had listed. it might be worth contacting him though. *****Edit**** I used the words “I think” as I didn’t know.🤦‍♂️ Glad to hear he sells new/bagged TT120 parts. ☺️ here’s his link; https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/peterssparesmodelrailwaysltd?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=pNeR1BfYSGC&sssrc=3418065&ssuid=GEGSFj6JTW2&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY NB Hornby gave me for free including the postage an item that Peter was selling (link bar) for £15 🤔
  21. I thought it was ok-ish, unfortunately pretty much what I was expecting, nothing particularly exciting. And although we all would like to know more about what’s been going on at least they’ve started to engage again, even if it was a bit beige….
  22. Just got this reply; Dear Chris, Thank you for your email. Regarding the production of concrete sleeper flexible track, I think that this is likely. We have discussed it. It may be fitted into our production plan for 2024 but this has yet to be confirmed. Hope that helps. Kind regards, Steve Haynes Sales Manager Pritchard Patent Product Co Ltd And this regarding the wagons; The wagons are not too far off now – going into production now. Kind regards, Steve Haynes
