  1. Excellent idea…. Also Hornby, well maybe Airfix have had some experience of a similar interaction at air shows having kids build kits in the Hornby tent with helper getting involved where needed
  2. Hopefully they’ll investigate either having PayPal as an option, as it can be linked to a bank account rather than a card, or something similar themselves. Especially if we continue to have pre-orders that can take up to or even exceed 2 years to come to fruition.
  3. This happened to me… Late Friday, I received a notification from my bank saying a transaction with Hornby had been attempted with a defunct card and had been declined! OH NOOOO!!!! The TTA tankers! My card I’d used to pre-order them had expired and HORNBY’S phones were closed for the weekend…. Don’t panic I said to myself, not really convinced as I kept seeing notifications about them selling out 😭😭😭😭 9am I’m straight onto the best customer services team ever (I think) and all is sorted. Phew… The lovely lady who helped me (& I could hear her colleagues having exactly the same conversation in the background) explained that although she couldn’t change the card details of my other pre-orders, each order would be safe and I would receive notification of any further declined cards, with a 14 day grace period to sort payment before any order was cancelled.😀 I can go get some sleep now😴
  4. Im not exactly sure what happened, but there is a thread here somewhere where it was first noticed about a week ago on the Gaugemasters website, (then subsequently on TMC and other retailers) this then hit social media and about 24hrs later the Hornby blog Train Terminal announced it. Not very well co-ordinated tbh, but then again I think we’re all so pleased it’s arrived that we don’t really mind?
  5. I got this comment on my YouTube channel @PeachyTT120 recently; ”TT is what it always was, a total and complete DEAD-END. Want detail…? Choose OO/. Want to squeeze a lot in….? Choose N/Z……. TT will soon decompose into a minoritity interest - AGAIN. A waste of money.” Ok, so this is just someone’s opinion & which of course they have the right to express, one that I don’t particularly agree with but that’s by the by. And yes, who knows, the record sell out of some of the products brought out (the blue 08 & various oil tankers) may not be enough to save Hornbys future. But it got me thinking, can a scale actually die? I met some dyed in the wool TT 3mm guys at a local show who love the fact that TT120 has arrived. They had 3 different scratch build/3d printed panniers using 1:120 scale Blink Boney chassis with DCC!
  6. GHU makes some good points, but if it (the British Pullman) is to be William Whitelaw, I can’t see them bothering with a different colour/livery? What’s the point in having two versions of one A4 when there are so many other more popular names to choose from?
  7. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😳🤣🤣🤣
  8. It would be so easy though to make the A4 an era3 using full valances but with a single chimney and corridor tender, paint it either garter blue, silver grey or apple green and you’ve got another must have for the inflicted like me.
  9. Nightmare 😱 my bank just advised of a declined transaction with Hornby. I’ve just realised a lot of my pre-orders are against a card that got damaged then replaced in December 🤯 This is gonna be a long weekend waiting till Monday 9am when they answer their phones 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
  10. That’s just plain dull… an Era 5 loco pulling Era 3 stock? They should go the whole hog and stick a Beatles van on the end. 😒 ps why would anyone buy this?
  11. Nahhhh….😂 I’m sticking with Hornby’s formula; 3 separate locos + a set loco. Why do a 5th Class 43. That’s for next year 🧐😂 Flying Scotsman Night Hawk Trigo + Blink Bonny set Mallard Falcon Silver King + William Whitelaw set BR class 43 InterCity class 43 GWR class 43 + LNER set D of Atholl D of Montrose D of Abercorn + D of ? Set (with crimson lake era 3 Pullmans)
  12. Happy New Year 🥳 Hobby, I promise I really didn’t mean to be unfair to your point of view and I’m sure if we were just sat in a pub after a club night we’d all just be talking about it fine. I know that I certainly find it difficult to have a written conversation via text or here on this forum somehow without it coming across like I’m banging the keys or shouting at the screen, I promise I’m doing neither.
  13. In my experience of resorting vintage & retro bicycles (I’m the Claud Butler Marquee expert for the Vintage Cycling Club) MAAS is nothing like Brasso or Solvite. They’re like chalk & cheese.I’m not asking if it works because I’ve done it & it does. watch the video The point of my post I guess primarily was to see anyone else had tried it. And whether anyone could recommend an alternative (especially a cheaper version, as the smaller tubes don’t seem to be available atm)ive now polished an entire layout with no mess or muck or staining of ballast or sleepers and I’ve certainly not left anything behind that could be picked up by a locos wheels. Anyway, signing off now as it’s time to get ready for New Years. see you next year.
  14. Cheers, I’m just trying to investigate other avenues rather than just sticking with the tried and tested. And yes, this is purely because of issues I’ve had with the HM7000 Bluetooth system, fingers crossed the profiles will resolve some of these issues. BTW. My choice of polish wasn’t random, it’s a product I’ve used for years on vintage cycles and I’ve cleaned connective surfaces such as in vintage dynamos and lights with no ill effects.
  15. Well I’m very pleased for you, truly. (I promise I’m not being sarcastic) But unfortunately my experience is exactly the opposite.
  16. Yeah that was my go to product, but cleaning the entire layout every single time I wanted to operate HM7000 fitted locos was becoming a real bore… What I’m hoping is that with my experience of MAAS this hopefully will only be a very occasional job, with just the odd vacuum or dusting off of the rails as required.
  17. Yes that’s exactly the sort of thing I was worried about, hence the three month test. I’ve since polished my entire layout and I must say it’s never worked as well, I guess it’s very much down to what product is used. As for MAAS I’ve been using it for years in restoration projects and couldn’t praise it higher. Just a shame the small tubes all seem to be out of stock in the UK atm
  18. Hello gang & Happy New Year.🥳 I’m not sure if this is something discussed before, but in my search to try to get the best connectivity that I can for HM7000 Bluetooth I’ve had a go at polishing my rails with a polish that has oxidation and tarnish inhibitors. I did the test over 3 months and am very happy with the results so far. So I’m just asking has anyone else tried something like this?
  19. Blimey! Over here in the UK, the Eastener is about a weeks rent!😂 And in London? Well maybe 2 days? 🤣🤣🤣
