  1. So I painted this revell pilot Figure of course before hand I washed the model in warm soapy water before hand , so then I painted him In a base coat of citadels abaddon black base and then continued in migs neutral grey after a night to dry following that I painted his shirt white by mig and then proceeded to paint his top in revells acrylic Blau leaving it to dry for another night and finally finishing it off with revells yellow. but in the morning he felt sort of soft on the paint finish , I wouldn't say tacky but just a little soft on the finish
  2. ok, so i just had a thought in why my paint is coming off by simply touching it. i dont varnish , could this be the reason
  3. to conclude im absolutley done with humbrol as a brand , they need to fix their acrylics because the quality is so awful i am genuinley done
  4. i also washed the sprues in water with some normal hand soap
  5. this is starting to really annoy me now , i build the revell T-55 with humbrol 78 and 30 acrylic 50/50 no primer , no non thinned base coat just a simple 3 layers of the thinned paint my friend says he doesnt use primer nor a non thinned base coat and does the same as me i am getting so many awnsers i dont know which one to listen to for example the lower glacis plate on the t-55 has what looks like rivets and everytime i lay a finger on it the paint comes off please help!!! many thanks will
  6. ah ok thanks another question is small bits like railing and very thin parts of the model , the paint seems to come off by simply touching it , why is that? like mentioned before i didnt prime and all coats where thinned
  7. So , hello everyone , I have just finished my T-55A from revell and i was wondering just for next time , i was using masking tape around the turret and when i peeled it off a small bit of paint from the turret came off , no big deal i just patched it up , my question is this normal? , i should mention i used humbrol 30 acrylic and humbrol 78 acrlyic and mixed it 50/50 i didnt really panic as i know for one humbrols paints can be fairly low quality sometimes but also acrylic is quite delicate and wondered maybe thats the issue many thanks will
  8. i was brushpainting and i put the paint in a small pallet with either 1 drop of acrylic thinner or water i use a pippete
  9. I see, so i Am using humbrol acying 106 and I am panting my tiger 1 a similiar occurrence happend with my hienkel where if I press my finger on the paintwork and then pull my finger away it feels sticky even though it has been dry for an hour with the tiger however I thinned with water and didn’t apply a non thinned coat to act as a primer for the following thinned coats. the thing that makes me go insane is that with the heinkel I applied a non thinned coat of the base colour to act as primer and I’m still getting the effect of a slight sticky spot where you feel the paint like almost peeling of your finger and with the tiger like prev mentioned the tiger has its first coat thinned no primer , nothing but like I said I’m not too sure what is happening here but it’s really making me worry as I am always paranoid on how my models look and if they are not perfect I begin to panic

  14. Hello everyone! i thought i should ask a question about some paint i have had for a good year i have been working on a bf110 and a hienkel he111 and im painting the lower part of the planes with humbrol 248 himmelblau after doing a coat of non thinned 248 to the 110 i noticed it was incredibly grainy and sort of thick even though i applied it sparingly on the 2-3 coats with humbrol acrylic thinners the paintjob looked horrendous with grainy marks and also brushtrokes even though the paint has been thinned can anybody help me on this issue thanks will
  15. Well I was painting the base coat with humbrol 106 dark grey /media/tinymce_upload/984600f777381648f880b5214cc7bbe4.png
  16. i have been painting the base coat of my provost the last couple days and whilst taking a look at the frontal part of the wing i noticed lines like brushtrokes but slightly thicker i thinned my paint and for the majority of painting i painted from tail to nose should i have changed the direction of brush painting from vertical to horizontal between coats? if not why is this occuring many thanks will
  17. i believe my issue is called the "role up effect" but that wont happen with the retarder and it fixes all the modelling woes of brushpainting tamiya paint
  18. im just going to get the retardent thats what is what you need to brush paint tamiya
  19. it seems to dry very fast and sometimes tears the paint any help? thanks
  20. Ok I have been on this forum a lot for advice and help during My time making models I recently purchased a Tamiya 1,35 panther A kit (it is very good and I have for now moved over to them as I prefer larger scale kits) I am painting the commander with my starter set black (it was all I could find at the time) so I leave the first coat to dry only to find when I came back to see I it could be rubbed off by my finger! Like seriously that’s not very good on humbrol (it was an hour drying time)
  21. Okay just a quickie I’m working on my tamiya panther a and painting the interior of the turret still a few brush strokes but thats acrylic for up so I thin my 3/4 layer but can I thin the first?
