  1. And the demise of steam. No steam, no risk of setting fire to the encroaching vegetation.
  2. What a wonderful prototype. How have I never heard of this station before? Your baseboard & fiddle yard are coming along nicely.
  3. The Stanier 50' is listed on the website as a minimum of radius 3., which I find surprising. Does it say anything on the packaging? The far longer Mk.1 and Mk.3 coaches have radius 1 as the minimum. But I think we've already established that the Hornby website descriptions can not always be relied upon.
  4. Aye, just got mine. Interesting what's not in there - the blue 08 (presumably they're not making any more, with that running number at least). Neither are the BR blue Mk.2E coaches. Good to see the Y-point is still listed in future releases. Very thin paper mind - not as sturdy as the original. Handle with care! Check your magazine though - the first one I picked up did not have the catalogue attached. Either it had fallen off somewhere or been pinched.
  5. Class 253 (WR) and class 254 (ER). I think your biggest disappointment should have been the far-too-short coaches, with the wrong number of windows . . .
  6. I wish they'd done a plain version without the dragons (?) on the side.
  7. Looks like the power car is running slightly higher than the coach in the above picture? (probably more noticable because of the livery stripes). Also seen a couple of vids where one power car looks to be slightly higher on the bogies.
  8. Generalisations are always a bad thing. Judging by my youtube "recommendations" over the last couple of weeks there are plenty of people who've plonked down >£1000 for 4x Cavalex Class 56 and are now proudly showing them off, especially the sound.
  9. I strongly suspect you are going to be seriously disappointed.
  10. When first announced there were certainly a few very noisy detractors of TT:120. Some seemed almost mortally offended that such a thing even exists. Don't hear them so much nowadays. Even so, the two closest stockists to me still don't stock TT:120 on the shelves. They'll both order anything I want from both Hornby and Peco, but then I may just as well go to any other online retailer, so they lose my custom. And I have told both of them this.
  11. Only 1 powered. The other power car needs a decoder for sound & lights.
  12. Never heard of them. (Goes off to find their website). Oh my! What a treasure trove.
  13. It upsets my OCD immensely that Hornby decided to name their point radius as 6th. Hornby track centres are 43mm. Working outward from 4th that would mean 5th is 439mm and the 'proper' 6th is 482mm. Not 631mm.
  14. You get the same exact problem with Peco n-gauge Setrack, so it's not unique to either Hornby or TT track.
  15. Yeah ... just looked at the Total tanker. It's got the Trainload Sectorisation markings on, so really should be Era 8? It's a bit rubbish of Hornby to be giving out duff information on these wagons.
  16. So, the ESSO one is actually what Hornby call Era 6 rather than the Era 7 as advertised? That's disappointing. I'd have gone for the Total one if I'd known that.
  17. R8312 eLink, with Railmaster Software is now listed in the "Last Chance to Buy" section on the Hornby website. As they say, "Hurry, these ... won't be available for long. Get them now before they're gone for good."
  18. The train sets come with 3rd radius, and frankly I'd stick with that as a minimum unless you absolutely need to go any tighter.
  19. There's one youtuber who's given up and has sold/is selling the layout he built and all the stock. Various reasons given, but it all boils down to basically "it's not for him".
  20. Replaced with the ESSO livery - same stock code of TT6022.
  21. Definitely lack of locos and rolling stock. I'm doing what Hornby called Era 7 - 1978/9, Bristol-ish area - and unlike previous attempts at model railways I'm going to be ruthless in sticking to that. So I've bought an 08. Of the other locos planned so far I'll take a blue 47 (maybe 2025?) and a blue 31 (probably 2026 at least). I'm not doing a mainline, so the HST is out. A plain blue 50 would be plausible, but it would need to be in an un-refurbished state. Rolling stock? The very recently released tankers are the first that would fit, and I plan to buy at least two. Repaints will probably be required as I always remember tankers as being a very dirty black. Nothing else so far fits my timescale. There are VGA and VEA vans planned for phases 3 and 4, but when will they appear? I also need want a BR standard brake van (a Hornby standard, Stunned they're not being planned) and a BR blue DMU of some sort. A class 121 would be perfect, or a 2 car class 101. Can't see either of them coming along in the next five years at least. So, my little urban branch terminus sits on it's shelf unloved - not helped by a point that broke after I'd glued all the track down - with very little incentive for me to actually do any more work on it.
