  2. Hobbycraft also sell Humbrol acrylics. Tamiya paints are spiriy based, not water.
  3. The Administrator approves pictures, we Mods cannot.
  4. I have moved your topic to the appropriate forum.
  5. Hi all I am getting back in to modelling after manys years away from it and this time around I have found that Acrylic paints seems to be the choice of most modlers. My question is, Can you paint over Enamel with Acrylis paint and Vise Versa?
  6. The code 5F is for Aufkl. Gr.14 (14th Reconnaissance Wing; later also called 14th Short-range Reconnaissance Wing). Put Aufkl. Gr.14 Bf 110 into Google Image search and see what turns up - some nice tropical schemes. It depends on how you want to portray the kit. The original instructions had all green upper surfaces - I suspect the splinter scheme was misinterpreted (70/71), but you'll also see the 74/75 scheme.
  7. Have you tried contacting Heller who made it?

    1964 Triumph TR4A

Thanks Rick, the Triumph letters and badge stand proud of the surface. I used a similar technique to dry-brushing - going over the raised areas carefully. It may take practice.
  9. 74 Graugrün was usually used with 75 Grauviolett
  10. On the Humbrol conversion sheet (P1158), 145 isn't a match to any RLM.
  11. Hi all. I'm building an old airfix bf110 and the instructions call for hu145 on the topside. Can anyone advise if 145 is close to a rlm colour? Thanks

  13. SBS also do etched brass rigging for this kit.
  14. Hi, I use Aeroclub Rigging Thread, but any elasticated sewing thread (from a haberdashers) will do. It is secured with a dab of cyanoacrylate (super glue) applied with a cocktail stick. Have fun with your build and thanks for the feedback. E-Z Line is another option (look on e-bay).
  15. They don't brush well, lifting the paint underneath, and I prefer acrylics now. I can spray Vallejo in the correct colour, without thinning. Quick to clean up and a great range of colours.
  16. You surprise me Paul. Whenever I've seen Tamiya paints on sale they're always the basic colours. I didn't know they specialised - not that I'd use them, I don't like Tamiya paints.

  18. Is TS-66 IJN Gray (Kure Arsenal) correct for the IJN Musashi? I don't know about Japanese ships or paints (outside my sphere of interest), but when looking for Royal Navy or Kriegsmarine colours I look for matches to the correct colour rather than any manufacturer's colour call outs. All manufacturers have a tendency to advise paints from their own range, whether correct or not.
  19. As Airfix haven't ventured much into the 1/350 market I've literally "jumped ship" to build Tamiya 1:350 IJN Musashi. problem is there is no Humbrol equivalent to TS-66 IJN Gray (Kure Arsenal). Does anybody know of a closest possible match for Humbrol colours? I probably have close to 20 shades of gray (now there's an idea for a new book
  20. Hi Gordon, it was originally by Kitmaster, then Airfix, now Dapol.
