Gary_Leeds
Had a notification about a delivery today from Hornby and could not think what it would be as the club locos were supposed to be delivered in Jan 2019 but it seems the boat must have landed early as it was the 2018 club loco. A nice surpise and looks nice as well
Carltonf
Yes, same here, received email about delivery tomorrow - checked my outstanding orders - Xmas wagons expected November, and it says club model due September, so that is unexpected, but welcome. Bulleidboy
Took me by surprise too!
NWR-Gordon-4
Well the locomotive is for 2018 and so the club members should recieve it in 2018. I believe it should arrive earlier than September, but no matter, it's better than in 2019. GNR-Gordon-

NWR-Gordon-4
At least it arrived, when you expected it to, BB. Who delivered it? A parcel courier? GNR-Gordon-
Howbi
If you really must know every detail, Jacob, this was emailed this morning............. 😆...........HB /media/tinymce_upload/1038d71429cdd54e3af240c6a60d2c9f.png
NWR-Gordon-4
Cool! 😎 Thanks for email screenshot, HB. 😀 All the parcels I had delivered by DPD Local, I have never had that much information of the driver's name, or an hour time slot of when to expect it. Thos better so, if you need to go out, you know you need to stay in between 10:10am and 11:10am, rather than waiting at home all day and it does not arrve until 4:00pm and more or less the whole day has been wasted waiting for a parcel man! 😆 😉 😀 By the way, that's you and BB had the loco within 24 hours, being delivered by a parcel courier. You would have had waited at least 2 days or more, if I went with Royal Mail. GNR-Gordon-
Howbi
As it happens, I was not at home when the parcel arrived. I was enduring an unpleasant procedure in my head at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford.........fortunately it was successful and I am at home now typing this which should indicate that I am still 'compost mentus' or thereabouts.......... 😬..........HB
NWR-Gordon-4
Glad that went for you. If you are not at home when it's due to arrive, then make sure somebody else, is or leave a note on the frontdoor to let a neighour take it for you, unless it needs to be signed for, then ot has to be taken to the sorting office. Bulleidboy
DPD are very good. I came home the other day to find a parcel in the middle of the dining room floor. We had been out for about ten minutes and a courier delivering a couple of carriages just lobbed them through a small open front window - it wasn't DPD. The carriages were ok. Some couriers are not as good as others!
walkingthedog
A few years ago I had a box of wine delivered from The Times Wine Club. I wasn’t in, no note through the door. A neighbour 6 door up knocked at the door and said this must be for you. He had a note to say it was for me. The box was in the skip in his drive. No longer a member. NWR-Gordon-4
No, some couriers are outragerous with how they deliver. Never had trouble with DPD, but another one I won't mention is one I will never use ever again, if I have the choice to use them. A number of years ago, nobody was in and I don't how the driver managed it, but they managed to shove the garage door open at the top, a gap wide enough to through the parcel into the garage, which landed somewhere in the middle of the garage, on the floor. Door never closed again properly, without having it repaired. 🤔 😉 😆 😀 GNR-Gordon-
Jimbo1707820979
My loco arrived this morning and was left in a parcel box which sits by my front door. Heavy- to discourage light fingers - and has a latching lock. It has been invaluable to me obviating my staying in and waiting for things to arrive. Doesn't work for "Signed For" parcels of course, but Royal Mail's Redelivery free service is very good.Gordon, maybe you should consider this kind of option. And thankyou, Hornby, for a nice little loco. Running it in carefully now. 😀
NWR-Gordon-4
I have used Royal Mail’s Redelivery, when a Royal Mail ‘Something for you’ card was not left by the postman, or as I like to call it an ‘I can’t be bothered to ring the doorbell‘ card! 😉 😆 😀 GNR-Gordon-
walkingthedog
If the postman didn’t leave a card how could you arrange a redelivery. I believe you need to give a unique reference number on the card the postman didn’t leave?
NWR-Gordon-4
I can't remember. This was about two years ago, probably more. I got in contact with the seller, saying eBay's estimated delivery dates are up and the item never arrived. They went off to do some tracking and replied saying it arrived about three days ago and they were correct. I then investigatred through Royal Mail's website in how can get my package, being that no card was left. I had to confirm address or soemthing to book a redelivery, I think. I didn't bother going to the post office as I doubt they would give to me, without a card. GNR-Gordon-
walkingthedog
Ebay dates are not very accurate unlike Amazon dates.
NWR-Gordon-4
No, they are not. They are just estimates. The dates that are generated have no idea how busy Royal Mail's network is at that day and have no communicated dates. I don't know why they bother giving dates. Usually they are wrong. RDS
... leave a note on the front door ... Not a good idea from a security point of view!
walkingthedog
That's what I do. Always works for me. Depending what’s in the package of course.
NWR-Gordon-4
I have done that, only once or twice, but I would rather not do it, for security reasons, as you've already mentioned. It could attract some sneeky and crafty burgulars. GNR-Gordon-
Station Cat
I haven't had an email to tell me that my loco is coming! Should I be worried? I am.
NWR-Gordon-4
Debrho, have a read of RLC's second comment, on this topic: Hornby Forum - club model. I think that this will give reassurance that you will be getting your locomotive soon. 😀 GNR-Gordon-
walkingthedog
I can’t imagine they would send all the locos together, probably in batches.
