Postman Prat
 Hi All After reading this last evening I contacted a friend who is a member of the owning group. From 1903-1931 run as built (Petrol/Electric) and then for the next 70 years was a holiday home. While restoration took place it was decided to use a diesel engine {Petrol Engine/Wooden body = health & safety issue)so she is now running as a diesel-electric, as in Class 47, 66 and all UK mainline diesel locos. I hear that Rails of Sheffield are probably going to produce an rtr model. For those who are interested she is at the Embasy & Bolton Abbey Railway, which regrettably is a bit far away for me. If you do intend to visit check that she will be out on your chosen date.
LCDR
 What theTV and  Press seem to ignore is that the NER railcar is a petrol electric self propelled vehicle and that there were 'straight' electrics around before 1903, which picked up current from conductors  laid on or above the line.  Apart from Volks, which was narroiw gauge, the City and South London in 1890 and the Liverpool Overhead in 1893 were pioneers of standard gauge electric railways in the UK.. The USA and in Europe there were electrically operated lines well beforew 1900. The North Eastern Railway was itself in the process of electrifying in 1903 and started running on the third rail systems in Tyneside in 1904. JeremiahBunyan
What's more interesting is that "Rails of Sheffield" the well known retailer is producing this is OO scale.
walkingthedog
Howbiman did say at the very beginning he had pre-ordered it. I got an email about it but deleted it. Must dig it out.
walkingthedog
Mmm is a very nice model but a trifle out of era for me. Tempting though. Rails are making it with Heljan. Thanks for pointing out the retailer Jeremiah I couldn’t remember who the email was from.
NWR-Gordon-4
When did Rails of Sheffield send that email out? GNR-Gordon-
walkingthedog
I got it at 1412 (that's 2:12pm) yesterday.  That's wierd, as I was typing the above I got the email again. 😮
NWR-Gordon-4
I will check my email. I am not sure if I received it or not. I should have done though. GNR-Gordon-
walkingthedog
I get so many now I often delete them without reading them. Especially black friday ones.
NWR-Gordon-4
Good grief. I have found the email and just had heart faliure. £199.95 for a coach is a lot of money. This not even a locomotive. It does not move by itself. I should hope it's made of gold dust, or another sort of rare material, at that price. Why didn't they just price it at £195.00, rather adding the 95p, that's just extra unnecessary money, when it's already a very expensive price. GNR-Gordon-
walkingthedog
It is powered. That’s the whole point. Watch the link Howbiman posted at the start. It’s an Autocar.
NWR-Gordon-4
Well at least powered I still believe it's over priced. These model shop exclusives always seem to be. GNR-Gordon-
walkingthedog
I guess it is highly detailed and a limited edition. It is a lot I agree Jacob but that’s the way model railways are going.
Troublesome Truck
Not my kind of thing, but still looks pretty neat. Fair play to the person/people who fixed it.
NWR-Gordon-4
I hope this does not happen, but think how much OO gauge locomotives will cost, if oo gauge coaches become as standard priced around the £200.00 mark. GNR-Gordon-
walkingthedog
I would most certainly get one but I rarely run passenger trains so it would spend most of its time in a display cabinet.
NWR-Gordon-4
Passenger trains are my favourite type of trains. Have you got an image of your display cabinet, WTD? GNR-Gordon-

NWR-Gordon-4
Wow, you have a number of locomotives. Thank you for posting these, WTD. 😀 One that pops out to me, is the Adams Radial you have. The green livery, number 488; Is this the Hornby locomotive or the Oxford Rail locomotive? GNR-Gordon-
walkingthedog
Ah good question.................Oxford. I did try and sell it on the other forum but no takers. Never mind.
NWR-Gordon-4
I have the same loco, but the Hornby one. I prefered the look of the Hornby over the Oxford Rail. Why did it get it? The reason is because one of the stories in The Railway Series, featured Adams. he is number 488, he is green and has no face in the book, so it was a good purchase for me to make. Why did try to sell it? GNR-Gordon-
walkingthedog
I don’t run it very often so thought somebody might like it.
