walkingthedog
Well I joined yesterday, didn’t join last year. I am now getting 10% discount on all products in the shop but for some reason it won’t let me buy the exclusive club loco. Says it is only available to club members, which I am. Still the 10% is good.
NWR-Gordon-4
Perhaps the pre-order allocation is full, Brian, for the club exclusive locomotive, or your account has not fully recognising that you are now a member? walkingthedog
Yes I reckon you are right Jacob. Probably take a day or two to become a full member. Nice to have the 10% discount back.
Bulleidboy
It's a pity they did not mention the 10% discount earlier. I might have waited before pre-ordering a number of loco's. I suppose I could cancel the pre-orders and start again. I might ring and ask if there is any movement with this - the prer-orders amount to just short of £1k - 10% is relevant. walkingthedog
I've done that before BB. Reordered then cancelled the old one. Did it that way around in case the reorder was sold out.
dynax
just renewed myself today, i wasn't going to bother until i heard about the discount coming back, also got preorders totalling over 1k, just wondering though if the preorders would need to be cancelled, surely the discount should be applied when payment is taken,
Bulleidboy
I'm thinking the same Mike. All of my pre-orders are still available (not sold out) - it might be easier to cancel and re-order. If we were talking about £5/£10 difference I wouldn't bother, but 10% off the total order is significant. BB
walkingthedog
With pre orders generally you pay the price at the time of the order, as most prices increase that is usually a bargain. Cancel and reorder is my advice, or should I say reorder then cancel.
Bulleidboy
I have sent Hornby an email - but I think your suggestion is best.
dynax
i might ping an email to HCS and see what they say, they might be able to amend the orders, and save the hassle of trawling through web pages to redo them, email sent, see what happens, great minds BB 😆
NWR-Gordon-4
Yes I reckon you are right Jacob. Probably take a day or two to become a full member. Nice to have the 10% discount back. If this does not happen, then I sggest you contact Hornby, if you do want to pre-order the club exclusive H Class. At 10% discount, this still puts the product at higher price than Hatton's Model Railways and Rails of Sheffield sells the item for, doesn't it? Bulleidboy
What loco are you talking about Jacob? The H Class is exclusive (?) to Hornby and it is £30 cheaper to Club Members. If there are any left once the pre-orders to club members have been sent out, the price will be £129.99.
NWR-Gordon-4
Not talking about that, in terms of 10% discount. I'm talking about any product, that qualifies for 10% for Hornby Collector Club members. GNR-Gordon-4 (HF)
Bulleidboy
I understand Jacob - my misunderstanding. When the 2019 announcements were made, I checked the price of all of my order with the big four "box shifters" against Hornby - this was obviously without the 10% discount. In general the box-shifters were ten percent cheaper. So now, with the club discount, Hornby are on a par with everyone else. I split my order with Hornby and one other. NWR-Gordon-4
I split my order with Hornby and one other. You might though that doing this you might spend more money in postage costs, but I understsnd why ypu do it. It’s nice to support Hornby Hobbies and model shops. Howbi
I'm not confident that there is a 10% discount this year.........it is not mentioned within the list of Club Benefits.........HB PS.........WTD has pointed out the discount is now showing on the product pages. walkingthedog
HB I have just joined and all the shop products have an additional 10% discount price with Club Discount alongside.

NWR-Gordon-4
I just added the membership to basket and it's saying I have to pay an additonal £4.98 for delivery. Delivery of what; The magazines, or the locomotive? I haven't got to pay delivery for very magazine posting, have I? I am surprised about having to pay postage for a club membership. I don't pay postage for other clubs I am in. Did everyone else who joined the 2019 club have to pay £4.98 for postage? GNR-Gordon-4 (HF)
Ruffnut Thorston
Apparently there should be an option to select free delivery... http://www.hornby.com/uk-en/memberships Scroll down, and there is a lot of information. The revelant information is in a black text box... When you proceed to the checkout page, there is a choice of delivery costs, and free delivery is offered here... NWR-Gordon-4
Thanks for that Sarah. I will take another attempt at ordering it, looking for a way to take the delivery off. I feel this should be automatically applied. If I didn't ask, I would paid that the postage and that would have been wasted money. Ruffnut Thorston
I have added to my post above... after trying it out... The option for free delivery is on the checkout page.... before you pay!
NWR-Gordon-4
Found the option for free delivery and have joined. I think it for club membership, the website should automatically deduct the postage. Somebody not noticing that could have ended up paying for it and tehre was no need to. GNR-Gordon-4 (HF)
Ruffnut Thorston
I glad that you have sorted that out now. 😀
