New member names

I've started to notice that many new member names are taking the form "name-348nnn". Plus the number of times that mod RDS asks members to update their names if they are common such as John, Dave, Paul etc is now rare. RDS, did say in his posts that changes were coming to force new members to choose a unique name. Is what I am observing what RDS has been referring to?

Is there any way to change username after the forum has automatically picked one for you (if you missed the original posts like I did face_with_rolling_eyes )? I've looked but can't see it.

Yes Barry, go to your account, (via the 3 horizontal lines button top-right & clicking on your name) then either:

• choose community and then my profile to modify your nickname (publicly visible forum name)

or

• in account choose my details to modify your real name (which isn’t publicly visible).
