50 Pounds Postage they charged to send it to Australia $97.33 AUD to send what is the size of a USB A Flash Drive.. YIKES Its a shame some ot the other preorders could not be combined onto the freight but thats just the price we pay for a marvellous hobby.

Here is a screen grab of part of my Engine Shed.

The blue marked ones are HM7000 decoder equipped locos and the yellow marked ones are regular decoders assigned to the same HM7040 dongle.

to Wapples, What gets me is it can cost $1.50 (or free in some cases) to get a large parcel from China, but, as you say $97 for an envelope size from UK . Can't you buy it from a store in UK who will charge normal price, or is it exclusively only available from Hornby.

The HM7040 dongle is not a direct only/exclusive product - obviously as it hasn’t been released not all retailers will be offering it for sale yet - but some (that have more competitive postal arrangements) might.

That’s $90 in Aust for an item costing £40 in the UK or just under $80. Then shipping on top if that’s all you are buying.

And while Hornby are charging £50 shipping, the actual cost via Royal Mail is £11 making for a total to your door in Aust of around $100.
