Class 37 Sound Missing HM 7000

Class 37 sound file error do I need to return the chip back to Hornby or is there a way around this?

Power cycle the loco, power supply and the tablet/phone and then reload the profile. If that doesn’t fix it, work through the troubleshooting guides on the forum.

What device are you using to communicate with HM7000, Android or Iphone?

Look at CV29. Bit 1 should be set. If it isn't you get no sound.

I thought bit 1 was directional headlight activation logic.

Sorry, I got mixed up between sound and lighting.

Sound is controlled by CV158 to CV180.

In case these are corrupted, you can set them all back to the default settings by

writing 5 to CV8. Writing '5' only affects the sound settings, writing '8' resets everything.

Thank you for the info George, mind has also lost sound. Interestingly initially it registered on the app but no control. Reloaded the app and profile now works on Bluetooth and DCC but no sound. CV 29 was set at 2 changed it to 3, but still no sound so I imagine in my case a hardware fault. I forgot, checked it both on the loco and tester so it is not the speaker unless it is blowing them up but they still measure 8 ohms so I doubt it is.

Just to echo another current thread, CV29 has nothing to do with sound. Bit 0 = direction reverse, bit 1 = 28/128 speed steps, bit 2 enables DC operation etc. Nothing affects sound.

I know George had updated the post to say he had made a mistake. Bit 0 is the direction bit as highlighted in the app.
