walkingthedog
To be honest Paul I'm no expert. Steam railway yards are dirty grubby untidy places and dirty grubby untidy is fairly easy. You should see my shed
RDS
That looks great WTD, what is the overall size of the layout.
walkingthedog
It's 8x8ft around the room with a big hole in the middle. The boards are 3ft, 2ft, 2ft, 1ft. The 1ft is a viaduct with a bit of farm land underneath. /media/tinymce_upload/207eec8b563e4ec4db875ed67feefe6d.jpg

walkingthedog
Looks good WTD. But how do you get inside?Crawl under at present LC but the front section with the vehicles and the giant key lifts out. I'm going to hinge it eventually.

Bigskybirds
Here is a short video of my layout which is 8 x 8, there is a hinged section in the middle to allow access for maintenance. It is mainly DC but the outer tracks can be switched to DCC as can be seen with Ketley Hall in the video.https://youtu.be/RnmS1ambq7U

Bigskybirds
Thanks WTD yours looks great too, we have the same size layouts and similar number of locos in our collections. I am not trying to copy honest ;-)Sometimes I wish I had the control in the middle but access was the deciding issue for me. You may be able to see a hatch on my layout where the buildings are. Bigskybirds
Thanks for the comments, I came back in to the hobby last August and it certainly keeps me occupied. It is times like this that I am glad it is in the spare room and not in the loft, it would be roasting up there. GeoFF03
@GeoFF03Nice layout, what are the dimensions of the board? The actual operating area is only 6 feet by four feet, but a scenic area adds another 9 inches.
