What are you using to power your layout Tim?

That’s good confirmation, Dodge and Tim Allen agree on how to fit HM7000 decoders. An answer on room for a PB will be interesting.

@Dodge1965 might I add to the general apology I gave when I first raised above that this was going to happen by extending to you are specific apology. I had no intention to denigrate you or anyone when I reported as I did in this thread. I was simply observing that the current deficiencies in the app were going to show up repeatedly and in glaring detail immediately a double-ended sound loco was released. Then, deliberately without any reference to you, I reported that it was in fact the case with the HST. We know that even a number of experienced posters here tend to be quite specific in their interactions with and knowledge of the forums. Not many keep in their heads an overview of what has and hasn’t been covered already and where. My head tends to keep that stuff and, consequently, I often post for people links to previous discussion on subjects. And my head only runs to DCC, TT:120 and HM | DCC with a smattering of other technical or forum feedback issues. And again, my apologies.

Just a word of warning - it’s is crucial that never the twain shall meet! If you should ever connect your DCC controller to the track while DC power is live, that will be the end of your controller, at least until you replace its output electronics and re-package the smoke which will have been released when the connection was made. I trust the metaphors are not too obscure and you get my drift.

But remember the HM7000 fitted case where it is no different to any other decoder. Unpack and run with Elite.

In the TT:120 Forum, the first HSTs have arrived, the first decoders have been fitted and the how to run question asked. 26 to go.

Very strange there is a tab for activity with one page, then a separate button with the lot. But yes, have found it now.

The profile loading bug in the updated iOS app version only is covered extensively in the HM | DCC forum.

Jacob, you could do worse than start by looking at the threads here where others are reporting on the progress on their layouts. They usually have the layout name in the thread title or there are a couple of others with titles like “First Layout Advice Please”.

To me, the running off sounds like DCC Runaway (look it up). You can fix this by turning off DC Running in CV29.

Tezza, might I make a comment on your thread title which, as it stands, is very detailed but at the same time tells me nothing. The trick to a good title is that it summarizes the question you are asking or the info you are reporting. In this instance, adding “has 21-pin DCC Connector” makes a big difference. For me at least, it changes my response from “what on earth is/are he/she/they on about and do I want to use part of my life to find out?” To either “not interested move on” or “I had that same question in mind so will find out what people are saying”. Not only that, future searching on the topic will be better too.

Yep, had forgotten polarity reversal needed, so forget the blanking plug. But I can guarantee you, the instant the digital packs arrive with modelers, there’ll be 27 new threads on here, 26 saying I’ve looked but can’t find anything, asking how on earth you run the train. And the current answer is, unless you use 2 hands to run the app on 2 devices at the same time with the power car set up in one and the dummy in the other, you won’t be able to synch the sound at both ends of the train. You can only go close by having each end separately in your engine shed on one app and switching between them as you start and stop. Until consist functionality is available. And I apologize in advance for my cynicism to the 27 who’ve yet to post.

If you were to check back on my posting history (which you can no longer do by the way, only see the first page - Rob to note), you would find I’ve often given advice to those thinking they don’t have enough power to their layout and therefore needed to divide it into sections and add a booster to power the second section, that this won’t be necessary until your layout takes up both car spaces in a two-car garage. Then note above that Rob (RAF) has said his layout takes up one car space.

To talk to all of us, you used pencil/pen and paper to write out a draft, gave it to the typist to type up with as many copies as you needed, put them all in envelopes with stamps and addresses and put them in the letterbox. Then you waited 1-2 weeks until we received yours and did similarly to reply. Was much better in the old days, wasn't it?

Short version of answers: - If you buy HM7000 DCC fitted, run with your Elite out of the box, nothing else needed - If you buy HM7000 separately and fit it yourself, you must use the app to download the correct sound profile to it (no non-sound versions yet), then run with Elite. Very similar to using the HM | DC app with your 6010s - If you want to run legacy (non-HM7000) decoders with the app, you connect the dongle to your Elite and away you go

Hasn’t anyone done a little subtraction? R4 - R3 R3 - R2 R2 - R1 Answer - 43mm And that’s the same as the spacing from 2 points in a crossover or one point and an R6 to bring it back to parallel. Or similar if you use a (correct) crossing rather than a point.

But if you have the digital pack, will there be any blanking plates with it that would allow lights and no sound in the dummy car as a workaround? If not, I do have an N18TXS blanking plate from an A1/3 without lights I could experiment with.

Ah, the Ronnies. Should have had one of them write up the app bug workaround in the manual!

Oops on CV5. Didn’t go beyond its not appearing in the Table of Contents in v1.3 page 4. An error clearly.
