Could a Mod please change the title to Deactivating Railmaster. TKC, posting with the title RM in the RM forum tells us nothing about your problem. You are likely to get more replies if people who know how to fix it know what your problem is. That said, the only way to deactivate RM is to send an email to HRMS with full details of the original licence including the licence key, and other details such as the email originally specified etc. I realize you are unlikely to have those details now but you have a chance if you have the key (otherwise no chance). Having downloaded and installed the evaluation version, you can then use the email feature within the Help tab to contact them and explain. However, given you aren’t your grandad, they will likely refuse and require you to purchase your own key which you can do online from within the evaluation version. Once you do that and enter the key, the evaluation version is unlocked into the full version. Details on how to download RM are in the sticky topic a couple above this one.

Yes, it’s a well-known bug that you get around via Settings as Steve suggested to you and you’ve now confirmed that method is still working while an update is pending.

I believe we can say with confidence it won’t be at v1.6 which is what you need to handle sound decoder functions these days. You will be up for the £15 return to Hornby upgrade for that. If you decide to buy an item where turning it on to see if it works seems to be at your risk?

Check out Brian Lambert in the useful links in the General forum and you’ll find all the standard plug/socket arrangements in his DCC pages, including 6-pin. I think you’ll find what you’ve said is brown is in fact orange, then red and black are the pickups and orange and grey the motor connections. White and yellow are forward/reverse lights with the common generated in the loco PCB, if you had lights which you clearly don’t. When you insert the correct way around, you will get red/black to black/red and orange/grey to grey/orange.

Just to confirm what RAF is saying - this has nothing to do with your Elite which is working (it is switched on, active and RM Setup has the correct Comm port for it). It has to do with your laptop’s internet connection. While it may be functioning, RM cannot see the RM servers through it. Either the servers are down for some reason or access to them is currently blocked via your ISP (this is a known problem with some ISPs). Usual first advice - try connecting your laptop through a different ISP.

My 4 turned up from Rails on Monday, less than a week in transit. No time to check them out yet. Pleased with the outcome. As well as their discount, Rails removed VAT, Aust didn’t hit me for GST and the £18 postage was less than the VAT saved. This would now seem to be the best TT:120 purchase path for me. Cheaper than Hornby plus points via a UK address due to the VAT and out of sight versus the non-existent stock in Aust via Hornby’s wholesale arrangement with SMS.

Someone has made this suggestion elsewhere but put here in the correct place now. Separate to BT aerial from the decoder PCB to limit its size. Two possibilities to consider: make the aerial a flexible stick-on which can then be put somewhere and wired back to the decoder PCB, or start including it in loco body mouldings.

Just one clarification - you don’t need a digital power connecting track as you will only be using DC power to the track. The digital version is only essential if you have a DCC controller sending DCC signals through the track.

Might I suggest this Chris - start by looking at the Decoder Failures thread currently neat the top of the forum with this one. While it is showing that problems are split between actual faults and finger problems, we know from feedback that more fall into the latter rather than the former category. So I would suggest the advice to check the troubleshooting guides is good advice. Or you could provide more detail and it is likely someone here can solve it for you even quicker.

My rule of thumb - you don’t need a booster until your layout fills both car spots in your double garage. Although that is an OO comment. Using a Hornby controller with their 4 Amp supply will likely run 10-12 trains at the same time and meet your needs without a booster. However, you can future-proof it by wiring it up in 2 districts with separate buses then, in the first instance, wire both districts together to the one controller and see how you go. If you find later you are running out of power, separate the buses and power the second with a booster.

Run a second production process from PCB component stuffing, saving a few cheap components in low quantity, and hope it comes out cheaper overall? Good luck.

Then there should be one wire connected to each pickup strip back to the PCB adjacent to the motor.

See Brew Man’s last - the pickups are not behind the wheels, they contact the back of the driving wheels. There will be wires connected to them going to the PCB mounted adjacent to the motor - see Parts 3 and 4 in the service sheet diagram.

Could this thread please be moved to the HM | DCC forum where it belongs, noting Colin is using a (recommended) DC supply and so no conventional DCC. I would also change the title by deleting DCC and inserting HM7000 for the same reason as moving it. Although I suspect this topic will be short as Steve may well have solved it.

With Hornby and HRMS being separate, and no RM update since release of HM7000 decoders, it is not surprising that they are yet to be listed in RM. hopefully that will be rectified when the overdue major RM update is released. In the meantime, manual entry is going to be the order of the day. Might I suggest (another?) email to George pointing out the latest on your difficulties with this particular decoder and the difference to your others with no problems?

And from this side of the world, the preferred SI units would be 3250 x 1250.

Try turning off DC Running in CV29 and see if it makes a difference.

Bee, can only agree with clear comms on here and that on occasion quoting posts helps. My point is mainly about the unnecessary instance of quoting posts immediately above, like this one. And then there are straightforward topics where it is clear if reply is to a post considerably above.
