  1. Not sure why it would make a difference. Power must be picked up from both sides anyway, one side via puckups and the other via the chassis. In my view the best way to help an 0-4-0 over points is to permanently attach a wagon with pickups wired to the motor.
  2. I just slosh on Humbrol or similar enamel or acrylic paint.
  3. There isn't a straight section on R3 and R4. They are curved.
  4. We shouldn't really recommend other makes on here. Try a different independent forum.
  5. Here's one and three quarters of mine. /media/tinymce_upload/99937ab5caff17dfa981d5051a692cf9.jpg
  6. Check behind the wheels on the loco and tender.
  7. Sounds like it has picked something up like a track pin. Maybe that's what caused it to derail.
  8. Electric trains don't make a lot of sound. 😉
  9. Seem to remember somebody opened up the joint gently with a knife and reglued it a bit looser.
  10. There were reports of one or two similar problems with other locos. Not a very common occurrence though.
  11. Lovely picture. You should post next time somebody asks about ballasting. 😆
  12. You can have a board that folds down from the wall, one that comes down from the ceiling or several small ones that plug together. You could have a small shelf end to end layout but it is very difficult for us to recommend anything because we haven't been to your house. If you are really short of space do as suggested, sell what you have and go N gauge.
  13. I notice that it hasn't got enough lamp irons to pull an express train.
  14. Those are not the OP's locos they are new kid's.
  15. Nothing from you for some time Ken. Are you OK?
  16. Trouble is the 800 doesn't have a diesel engine at each end like the HST. The 5 car set has a diesel under the floor on coach 2, 3 and 4 whereas the 9 car has them under 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8 as far as I am aware. So you will need more that two decoders. Also the train is powered by overhead electricity and the diesels are for emergencies or where there is no overhead.
  17. The rear wheels are supposed to 'wobble' about. I am wondering if the quartering is out. On one side when all the connecting rod screws are at the 12 o clock position, those on the other side should all be at 3 or 9 o clock. Exactly a quarter different.
  18. It's a pain isn't it when no matter how hard you try, something doesn't work, then along comes some bright spark who says well it worked for me first time. 😆
  19. I don't think the question is at all vague. Very clear.
  20. Is that right. What a coincidence. 😆
