  1. I'm with 37lover, have another go. I remember when I bought my first modern controller that I was amazed by how slow locos could go. My new Dapol J94 would take several minutes to travel a yard.
  2. I put the R number in and the service sheet it produced is tender drive.
  3. R1039 is tender drive according to the service sheet.
  4. It's strange how some people say they can't get the tender top back on and along comes somebody else who says they have done several successfully. If I can't get something to fit (not decoders) I look upon it as a challenge and use my modelling skills, no not on the catwalk, to make it fit. 😆
  5. Not sure why lights are important. Couldn't tell you which of my diesels have them. Going by the number of queries on here about speakers wouldn't it be better if the TTS decoder came without them as the majority of people tend to change them anyway.
  6. I typed it in and got this straight away. http://www.lendonsmodelshop.co.uk/index.asp?redirect=&q=X9648&searchwhere=On-Lendons-Website&condition=or&highlighted=on
  7. Worked straight away on my ipad.
  8. Knob on the controller has to be fully off for the direction switch to slide. What do you mean by main motor, and where is the indicator light?
  9. I have an external drive. Works very well and not expensive. I thought Railmaster could be downloaded from the link at the top of this section.
  10. It is and always has been good practice to check the tightness of connecting rod screws regularly, especially brand new models. I had a new Bachmann loco where the rods were still in the box when I removed it. 😀
  11. That is a shame. Just in case, you are aware that the control knob must be set to zero before the direction switch can be moved. I'm sure you are.
  12. That's the problem with close-up pictures.
  13. What a great idea. As you said the top does look a bit more knobbly than the bottom.
  14. It's only 99 pence from Lendons. Have a look on line and see if it looks right. At that price it's worth a try surely.
  15. The Hornby version tends to derail some locos and rolling stock. Not always.
  16. Or buy the tool for a few quid. It is well worth the money, very well made.
  17. If you look on this web site Jacob R4935A indicates the coach number is 99723/99312 which is obviously incorrect.
  18. Fair enough. The wording of your post gave the impression it was about the exhaust deflectors. If you are reviewing the two trains then by all means start a new post.
  19. If it has pictures it may take a while to appear if Adam is on a long Christmas break. 😉
  20. Why have you started a new thread, this one is still extant.
  21. They are fine as long as they are not Hornby. I have several sets on my layout and they work well. They are streamline. /media/tinymce_upload/7144d8e781ed34746aa025d96ec12f77.jpg
