  1. Yes I’ve been considering that. Can you recommend anything Norman. 😉
  2. Ah the magic word screen and grandson answers my question. I just turn the knob to zero of the controller powering the loop and the loco stops. My grandson hasn't played on my layout.........yet. Perhaps I will also require an emergency switch. I wrongly assumed fast running because of possible collisions. I don’t have them, well haven’t yet. Plenty of time to stop. My apologies.
  3. I think one should remember that if the loco uses a worm drive it only works in one direction, I don’t mean forward and reverse. The worm gear will drive a cog but the cog will not drive the worm gear. Suddenly stopping a loco from a high speed can strip the worm or cog. Incidentally I don’t really need emergency stop sections on my layout as I only run trains slowly, but I guess they can be a good idea for the occasional emergency. Turning the knob to zero works for me.
  4. Exactly Al. Run the loco flat out and then cut the power. The perfect way to wreck a loco.
  5. The ones that travel is generally because they have a flywheel/s. This can be prevented if you slow the loco before stopping it. Can also be because the loco is pulling a heavy load.
  6. I use IPA on the chassis and soapy water on the body on the rare occasion I have cleaned one.
  7. Don’t think they would have lasted long on a steam loco. 😉 The 68 looks very smart.
  8. Hope the coach colour matches the loco.
  9. All part of railway modelling. I enjoy doing it myself. Might just as well get somebody to build the layout for you if you don’t like having a go. Not aimed at you just a general statement.
  10. Your overalls are shinier than the loco 😆
  11. I’ll cut you out some bits of card to go under the points if you like.
  12. I give up. Maybe he’s talking about a completely different make of controller. Perhaps it is a copy of the Hammant and Morgan made in North Korea.
  13. Colin if you are so keen on Hammant and Morgan controllers why do you insist on calling the Hannant and Morgan? I guess Oxford tested the N7 with a selection of controllers and found for some reason it didn’t like the H & M. One of those things that happens sometimes and good for Oxford to point out the problem.
  14. You should get a set of etch brass number plates. It will transform the model.
  15. Looks very nice M-R. You are definitely getting the hang of it.
  16. The couplings you use are a godsend, they can be fitted to just about anything with glue or a screw.
  17. Me too. I’m sure somebody will find something wrong with it. 😀
  18. Well I thought they were both OK. It’s free and you don’t have to watch it. 😉
  19. Train robbery. Still don’t know the head code though.
  20. Cornish Riviera or Cheltenham Flyer.
  21. I can think of a few headboards but not head codes. .
