  1. One of the problems of buying second hand I'm afraid. I often wonder why locos lose their valve gear etc.
  2. Is it not possible to remove the excess?
  3. Nothing replaces a book. Electronic versions are fine until you want to lend it to someone.
  4. I'm afraid you're right Rob.
  5. I don't understand why you thought it would be difficult! 🤔
  6. I have electrofrog points on my layout and all locos cross them without a problem, so they would be an advantage. No complicated wiring at all. Just insulated rail joiners on each rail on the frog V. No switches or point motors.
  7. Far better to ring them. They don't have a lot of staff and probably get far too many emails.
  8. I suggest you contact Hornby and ask them. If they will I guess it depends how much it will cost. A new one might be better. Does it work?
  9. If you tell us what the locos are or post some pictures we may be able to help.
  10. Not sure such a thing exists. They often have large buffers. Small drawing pins would make good replacements.
  11. Don't see it as a problem. Very happy with my OO trains. 😆
  12. Not just LEDs on their own. The switch only makes a momentary contact so the LED would just flash on for a fraction of a second.
  13. And if a CDU is fitted wouldn't that destroy the LEDs?
  14. My loco found it's way to a member's grandson and I believe is now located in Switzerland. No I didn't make a penny on the transaction. Very pleased.
  15. To add to Chris's excellent reply, a lot will also depend on what locos and rolling stock you are running. Longer products will tend to cut the corner and hit the plaform.
  16. Thanks John. Shame they didn't stay with it.
  17. If only you guys had adopted OO instead of that foreign HO 😆 Considering that in OO the USA loco would be even bigger, the size difference is incredible.
  18. My guess is that most of the book readers would have been happy with a Black 5 as long as it was the correct colour and had the correct name.
  19. Price differences are interesting. Of course the Hall version is more accurate. Not sure why they used a Castle originally.
  20. That is a very stupid post M-R. If modern Hornby products were made in the UK we would all be very happy, but they are not, so we have no choice other that to give up the buying new models or buying old second hand British made models that many of us already have.
