  1. @Jeff Mennell Are you sure the Duchess of Atholl is Triang? It looks like early Hornby Dublo to me. Either way, £12, - you can't go wrong 😮
  2. Approve?/media/tinymce_upload/940af1977dea98a905c5567d50ea4609.jpg
  3. Just re-read the post - you're probably right. And there's me keep telling Jacob to read the post properly.
  4. Probably hasn't been to Greece either - scared of being held hostage by the Greek elves!
  5. Hi WTD Nice to see a 8F with the Fowler tender - I don't recall seeing a model of that before. By the way the 'Saint' looked very nice this afternoon! 😀
  6. Of course he says British things - he's British!!!! 😢
  7. @ Jacob You told us several months ago that you hadn't been to China and you didn't want to go. That probably explains why you've never heard of Chinese elves
  8. Hi By the end of the 1950s Gresley and Thompsons could be mixed along with Mk1s. However ,during the 'teak years', the Thompsons would have been the latest available and would have been a lot less likely to appear on 'branch lines'. You mentioned using B1s and B17 but they would have been a lot less likely as motive power on branch lines - more likely on secondry main lines. I don't have actual formations but the above would have a lot of bearing on the matter. Hope this helps

  10. Well done - it looks really nice 😀
  11. Hi Vespa Hope you're back here for good. I haven't changed - still PP
  12. Hi Caiptean No point grovelling now - you already decryed the A4 against the Bulleids. That's you off the xmas card list 😛
  13. Aim to finish the best (A4) first and then the Stanier pacifics - only 38 of them - 3 distinct groups 😆
  14. @ RAF96 Hi Rob Re nos on HSTs. I'm not 100% certain but I do know the early HST set numbers were applied to the nose - the 43xxx was the side number - 43007/43008 set no 253 004, 43009/43010 set no 253 005 etc.. This use of set nos on the nose didn't last long due to the difficulty of keeping 2 units together when only one had a defect. For a period some powercars had the side no also on the nose. Not 100% certain, as I said at the start, but logical, given the known facts. 😀
  15. Hi BB Are they the flashes used in preservation or the original ones, fitted by BR?
  16. Hi Caiptean Nothing to do with BR being unable to colour match. Crimson and Cream was selected as the 'standard' livery for mainline coaches and the Gresleys had to be painted to match. The coaches where there was a problem was the Thompsons. Steel sided they were painted in a sort of teak finish and even had dummy panels applied.
  17. Best of luck. I may have a similar job when Hornby do 30941 BORSTAL !! 😆
  18. Don't know about LMS coaches, but maroon Mk1s came out of works with silver roofs. Silver would probably change to 'muck grey' within the week!
  19. Suggest you look up elsewhere to find out about Lawrence of Arabia, particularly his date of death. Then look up the date the 9Fs came into service. Come back tomorrow and tell me you've found the deliberate mistake !! 😆
  20. Are you confused? Which is it - TE Lawrence, Lawrence of Arabia or DH Lawrence - the writer of the risque books? 😉
  21. I like the one in 'sand' livery. Did it operate overseas, in the Middle East? 😆
