I contacted customer services as my membership expires today (12/01/24) and the very helpful young lady told me that the 2024 pack should be available "very soon" and has added another week to my existing membership so that there won't be a gap.

The B-24 is long overdue. It's a "series 9" kit so I think I'll wait for it and use my flying hours tokens to get it. The old Whitley is also a tempter. I'm not sure about anything else right now.

1/35 mystery bundle ? Help clarify what to expect
Ken Innes replied to Stephen-375258's topic in Military Vehicles
Just to add to my last post. I asked for and received four more 1/35 tank kits. I'm totally "over the moon" with what I've been given. I paid £134.99 and received kits worth about £450 (after my 10% member's discount). A massive thank you to Celeste at Customer Care. -
I had the same experience. I got the "extra" four tank kits with only one duplicated in the original ten. I'm extremely pleased with the service (I had to argue a little but not much). Thank you Airfix and your customer care team.

I had the same issue and have been given the same excuse but only offered a rather pathetic discount on further orders. your response has encouraged me to ask for four more kits.

1/35 mystery bundle ? Help clarify what to expect

I had the same issue. I received 10 kits plus the "free" 1/72 aircraft kit. i was informed about the "mistake" and was offered a discount on further orders. I'm a bit po'd as it wasn't what I ordered but it was still great vfm. What can you do eh? -
My only real advice would be to stop referring to them as "toy soldiers" and use the words "model soldiers" or "military miniatures".
-
Hi Thomas. J3 is right. The product info on the bundle clearly states that "This box contains a random selection of 3 aircraft kits from a variety of eras or locations. At up to half the price of buying each item separately, this is a great value way to get your model aircraft collection started. Kits in this bundle are subject to change. " You can ring them on 01843 233502.

Thanks for the information Nick. I've got all of those and they seem to have dropped the more expensive kits, such as the Tigers, While it's still good vfm, I'll give it a miss. Happy New Year.

Hi, You also have to apply the same logic when ordering as a Club member. When your discount is deducted the cost of the items can sometimes drop below the "free postage" qualifier.
-
I guess it won't be too long to wait. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know what you get when the bundle arrives. I've got quite a few of the Airfix 1/35 scale vehicles (Academy reboxings of course) and don't mind getting one or two duplicates but I don't want loads of the same kit. Thanks in advence.

Hi Jim. I "sort of" agree with you. The Armour mysery sets are £75 (or £67.50 when you're a club member). Whilst the 1/72 aircraft set is £22.99 (£20,69 with club discount) so people might "gamble" on the cheaper sets but less likely to pay the higher amount for "a pig in a poke". You may have seen my other post regarding the armour sets. I have bought a few in the past but, like you, I don't really want more of the same, although they are good value. I'm a bit of a sucker for a "bargain" and I find it very difficult to resist them, especially when they occasionally offer "double discount". Who knows? I might build them eventually.

Airfix 1/35 Bedford QL 6pdr AT Gun Portee (08366)
Ken Innes replied to Ratch's topic in Military Vehicles
Hi Rod, I've just been looking through some posts on here and I thought the same as you. I "Googled" it and got this page. It does appear that they did fire from the truck although it seems more likely that the gun would have been pointing backwards to the truck. The control of recoil must have been a challenge. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port%C3%A9e_(military) -
Hi everyone, I see that the "Mystery tank bundle" has recently been updated (19th October 2022). I'm just wondering if anyone has bought one very recently and can let me know what's in it. I have a lot of the 1/35 range and while I don't mind the odd dupllcate (is that a contradiction in terms?) I'm not so keen on having a lot of the same model. Thanks in advance.

Nice one Paulus66. It's good to know that kindness and being "a good neighbour" has been rewarded. Enjoy the builds. -

I recently bought the Airfix 1/35 "Katy" Ambulance (with the free beer glass). It looks like a great kit and I've read some very good reviews......However, for a bit more money I have acquired one of these beauties. I know it's an Airfix forum so I'll not say too much as I don't want to upset anyone. -

Hi Paul. Wow! No wonder that you're smiling. Those were a bargain. I have one of each of those in my stash and I think I paid more than that when they were new. -
What was in your Mystery Box

Hi Kevin. I, personally, have had no problems with customer services (I may just be lucky but they've always been pleasant and quick to sort out problems). I find the telephone to be the easiest and best way to contact them on 01843 233502. Good luck. -

The double discount offer over the bank holiday really sweetens the deal. Those three for under £20 (you'd have to buy somethinig else to qualify for free postage I suppose) are well worth the money. -

"Shortage of funds" is a big factor these days of course. I do sell some of my older kits that I'm not going to make but it's very much a buyer's market, especially for second-hand models. I don't need the money, I need the space. (so I buy more....it's addictive....wink). Please don't get me wrong. I'm not bragging and I know what it's like to be "hard up". I'll probably end up giving some of them to my nephew who makes makes great jobs of his kits. -

I've just sent for the "1/48 Spitfire Collection". The 20% off for Club memebers tilted the balance making it £100 for the six kits. I just hope it turns up when my wife is out though...(I might find myself in the doghouse but the risk is worth it). 1-48-Spitfire-Bundle.jpg%3Ffit%3D1 -
Would 1/76 be closse enough? You should be able to find one somewhere (Airfix might even re-release it as part of their "Vintage Classic" range.

Have you seen the offer of the six 1/48 Spitfires (you know you want to....I do). https://uk.airfix.com/products/148-spitfire-collection-bundlea14 -
Hi, I don't know if this is too late or even if you will see this, but Airfix's 1/35 "Tiger 1 "Early Version" (A1357) contains four (actually three and a half as one figure has no legs due to him being the commander who looks out of the top hatch). There are no photo-etched parts included. a1357_tiger-i-_early-version__pack-front.jpg%3Ffit%3D1

I saw this in my local shop the other day and thought I'd get it. Realising that no gun-crew are included I've sent off for some. I might even make it (fingers crossed).
