Removing small parts from sprue
paul71 replied to DoubleD's topic in Humbrol (Techniques, Tips & Craft)
my latest one was the mast on the Me109 its a little bit shorter than it should be but i got away with that one i think, i do have a few doner kits now but if i ever get stuck i will ask you are good at making new parts. -
a nice scheme on this one randall a bit different from the all metal finish, the setting of the picture is good and the figures make a big difference to it, does the driver in this set fit in the jeep.

Removing small parts from sprue

I use a sharp knife and sort of saw through the sprue not too close to the part and don't put too much pressure on it, i usually put my finger over the part to stop it shooting off, my problem is after I've trimmed it and are sanding those final bits to make it look right is when i brake them. -
that's a nice build ratch looks really good, its a nice looking kit, well done on the rigging
-
the glider is one of those i really like but would have no place to put it once built, its a nice build grumps. i like the range of Japanese aircraft you have i am looking at these a lot more i only have a few airfix ones waiting to be built.

first time building this kit even though I've had a few sat in my stash for some time enjoyed the build plenty of detail on these. painted with brush once again and decided to put all the small decals on too.

that's one of the sets I've been thinking about, they do look good painted Randall
-
they are looking good Randall and Dominic. Did you give these an undercoat or anything before painting.
-
I'm really happy with them Randall, getting the shelf unit with the door on is keeping a lot of the dust out and putting some lights in has made a big difference the pictures don't really show how nice and how good it looks with them on, building the Lancaster came to a stop so its been kept safe in there so that was another win for the unit and i also know it will fit in when its finished but anything a bit bigger might be a struggle to get in, but time will tell when i build a different aircraft but i can always put it on top of the unit if they are a bit too big.

now ive got my shelves sorted ive got these ideas of doing a diorama but cant make my mind up with which the figures to get, I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas and skill doing these.
-
with it having a glass shelf the light reaches nicely to the lower part, my thought now is to do something like a diorama on the lower shelf.
-
a few showing a few of the different colours the light strip does giving you the choice that suits what you put in
-
got the rest of the shelfs decided to use the lower half for storing my kits I've also put in the lighting i got the calex multi colour led strip 5 meter length run it across the top then into each shelf unit and then back across behind the shelfs so this would also light up behind the unit, you can get smaller lengths if you wanted to just put it into the shelfs i drilled holes into the back of the shelf unit to thread the light strip through. this one helps show the lighting around the unit helping to brighten up a dull space with it been under the roof eves

no Dominic its my laptop it was updating and throw a wobbler as i was writing it, as i changed my wording it put the rest of it in a quote box for some reason and i didn't notice it, you worked out the question perfect any way that was what i wanted to know how you cut the end of the thread thanks Dominic
