  2. a nice finish on this Andy the zimmerit gives it a totally different look
  3. that's a nice finish the red really stands out against the silver
  4. nice build Randall i like the tail art on this one as well as the nose art
  5. its interesting to see these don't see many of these aircraft in museum's here, shame they are sat outside slowly rusting away
  6. i use fishing weights got a few different sizes.
  7. a nice build andy like the damage to the side
  8. nice build grumps, i forgot to check the weight in mine for some reason its got just enough weight for it to sit on the wheels but it can sit on its tail if the unit is nudged.
  9. nice build dale its one of those kits that slips under the radar will have to think about getting one of these
  10. some nice builds ratch like the Dakota I've not got one of those. I should think about building some D-Day things.
  11. nice build randall the silver finish looks great. the information of the aircraft reminds me of a book i read called the silver spitfire about how squadrons would keep older aircraft for there own personal use and the lengths the went to to keep them.
  12. just picked up my latest edition of flypast and in it was a supplement for there books they having a bit of a sale planes trains etc looks like some nice books in it if you are after anything
  13. its still a good recovery dominic
  14. the swastika is a banned symbol in a lot of European country's and can not be put on display that's why you wont see it on box art or decals because you wouldn't be able to put it on the shelf to display or sell, its nothing to do with been squeamish its the law if you go to an air show and see a flying WWII german aircraft that is registered in one of those country's it wont have a swastika on the tail, if its registered in england it can have the swastika on the tail.
  15. i like the new layout and the galleries, its taken a bit of getting use to but im getting there now. i use a laptop and mouse, the mouse has two extra buttons on it one is a forward button and the other is a backward button do the same thing as the arrows on the top left of my laptop, i use them all the time so are use to doing things this way on everything. this is how i navigate the site and I've done some small part of the screen shots first i get this and click on airfix it takes me to this and i click on forums that takes me to this i can see what has new content by the circle been dark red ( general discussion and aircraft) ones without new content are a dull red ( airfix forum) i click on aircraft and can see the top three have have new content i haven't read (dark red stars) i go into 1/48 hurricane - airfix 1979 and read that, i then come out of that by clicking my back button and it takes me back straight to this page and i can then just on the next one i haven't read Typhoon Ib and so on if i click the back button whilst on the above page it takes me back to the page below and i can work down the page going in and out reading what I've missed if i go into a post with lots of pages and start at page one i would have to click the back button lots of times to get back out after reading all the pages so then i could just click on where the red arrow is pointing and that would take me back to the aircraft page or i could click where the blue arrow is pointing and that would take me back to airfix page the above picture this is how i do it (and it might not work for anyone else) as its what I've been doing for years when i do general things on my computer such as moving pictures in and out folders that I've taken or documents and my mouse makes this easy to do its just a click with my thumb to do it.
  16. nice build shows what can be done with these kits
  17. nice build ratch like the rigging on it
  18. you recovered the stripes nicely you cant tell looking at it the problems you had
  19. looks good like the setting
  20. i like them both i must admit that im thinking more about getting kits like these as i see how well you turn them out.
  21. the depth of the inner unit is 36cm with the door closed height from top to shelf is 16cm height from shelf to bottom is 17.5cm. you could use the shelf unit without the back on if you still wanted the door on the front to give you more depth and enabling the wing to stick out of the back and even more if you arnt flush up to the wall like mine. you could just get a glass shelf and put it to the height that suits you or put more than one shelf in each square there is plenty of options with this unit that's why i like it so much.
  22. looking good ratch, we have all dropped one at some point at least a piece that came off didn't go to the carpet monster looking forward to seeing the rigging.
  23. looks good but we all think our own models arnt good enough, i usually free hand the pattern unless i need a straight line like on Luftwaffe aircraft then i use tape and that gives me a slight lip on it but i just live with that. for me i will give most metal skinned aircraft a gloss finish but try to not get it too shiny, I've read accounts of both british and german ground crews taking pride in keeping there aircraft clean and pilots having there aircraft polished to give them an edge in combat so go with what makes you happy in the end.
  24. from models for sale, I've got to fill that unit up
  25. this came last week with 15% off and £23 of points saved up i couldn't resist it
