Thank you jopres57 for instructions T2B I take it your explnation for a blanc sheet is tongue in cheek? The instructions were skilfully written and set Airfix superior to competing kit manufacturerers at the time.
Hi Ratch What did you use for windows? Clear plastic from Terrys chocolate orange? Did you find a picture of one carrying bombs? The thiness of the 5.5 gun makes it suitable for conversion to a 3.7 AA gun?
I think the original Airfix instructions did make things a bit easier sometimes. Any attempt at issuing instructions with kits now that have English only explanations would probably generate negative publicity so is likely to be a non starter. An option may be to have detailed instructions in several laguages available for download as well as the schematic multi-lingual ones in the box. Back to the P61 though, I've always been a fan of all black colour schemes and nose art. The fact that it's such a good looking aircraft as well makes it a 'must build' kit for me. Not accepting that full reproduced English instructions will generate negative publicity. English language has been absorbed into many languages. For example I saw a documentary about the French fire brigade tackling the catherdral notre dame. I was surprised at just how much English was used. Same with the Swedish crime drama The Bridge. Also it's educational and no one can argue against that. Especially if young people have the aviation industry or vehicle manufacturer as future goals. Please if anyone has the original instruction leaflet and are contemplating putting it in the wast basket, I'd be very grateful for the additional explanations. Contact via e-mail to the govenor here!
Totally agree with 4a Out of curiosity bought some 1/76 figures complete with seams. Terrible to paint. The only saving grace is greater definition than earlier times.
I'm thankful to the contributers to this thread, because I was consider purchasing it. Annoyingly Airfix have not reprinted original instructions. On one of their tanks, I've had to get the original instructions to clarify the drawings And the modern sheet has a whole blank page! Anything about this that makes it a 'must build' kit? Other than D-Day stripes!
Just came across on ebay Airfix Sam-2 Guidline Missile Given the seller wats £90, I think Airfix ought to give cosideration to a new tool of the same. Oh in 1/72 scale please
Hi all, Please what is the best preparation for painting 1/76 figures? ?Just about to purchase modern Airfix figures for first time. While I'm here: Arabs (Bedouin) & German Mountain Troops please Aiirfix
Hi all Just read in AMW that Afrika Korps vintage 1/76 scale figures are to be reissued. Please might the German Mountain troops also be reissued? They double up as Panzer crew. If anyone has found a source of 1/76 Panzer crew. Be glad to know.
Hi all I have a tin of Humbrol 19. My 1970s tin might not be airbrushable in which case will a modern tin of H 19 gloss enamel match it perfectly? Reason I have to match a red decal to convert A02103 to a Macaws aerobatic Jet Provost T.3.
I'm an Airfix devotee, only on this occasion I find myself going elsewhere to depict an Israeli A-4B. The under wing ordnance being another short-coming, too few. Takes me ages depending on depression, ability to concentrate.
New tool please Aiefix! While those of us with one in the loft, will find this thread invaluable. Even more so than Aircraft Modelworld of September 1988, who never picked up the flaws corrected here. Thank you!
