  1. Very good! Any tips for improving the sparse cockpit?
  2. Glad you've kept the rivets, they add some interest to an otherwise odd characterless model. I'm following this with interest because my one is part of the loft insulation. According to a recent AMW some new decals covering Army Air Corps have come on the market.
  3. Are we likely to see this rereleased in the Classic Airfix range complete with Popeye decals?
  4. Yes in a box with packaging even if you say you'll visit and pick it up personally. Combine it with a holiday in East Anglia.
  5. They were some of the kits I had in mind. The Bf 110 is another, it wasn't bad but spoiled by the incorrect nacelles. One thing I would say is that ignoring the accuracy issues they're fun builds. I had a hoot doing the MiG-15. I'm planning on doing the 109 as a G2, because once you've removed the silly cannon bulges it's not actually that bad (at least according to the drawing references I have). I'm still trying to work out how the Hurricane rear fuselage might be fixed to look better than it does. The prop needs replacing, but the spares box comes to the rescue. One thing that I don't think has been mentioned is that the Airfix decal sheets are now amongst the best that you're likely to see in a kit from anywhere. Seeing as I have a couple of 109s there's no need to buy aftermarket for the AZ 109G joypack that I have. Agree with the Me Bf 109G-6 comments, add no cockpit detail and bizzare bomb shape
  6. Suggestions on how to correct the engine most welcome. Brian monaghan did a good article in Aircraft Modelworld in September 1988,but does not address engine shape. Thanks in anticipation
  7. The new Revell Ju 88A-1 in 1/72, and here I go again, more expense on decals because Revell could not even supply swastika in a broken form. Template even for those with an airbrush.
  8. Thanks Peter, I really appreciate these accurate insights. In vain I hope Airfix will reisit their moulds and create an accurate A-4E with abundance of ordnance.
  9. Which variant of Skyhawk? A-4E? or? Strange they have chosen Vietnam and not the Middle East. An Israwli A-4E now that would be attractive. Both a/c in camouflage.
  10. I say support your local model shop (LMS) though in a middle class small town near me a toy shop shut up shop for good after decades of trading including Airfix kits. Even if it means and in UK especially, an expensive train journey. I've learnt to be patient and plan in advance. Also some craft shop will have accounts with suppliers who can order you kits, these too deserve your patronage and hopefully in return a friendly acknowledgement. 😀
  11. I like the crew bus conversion from the fire tender from the emergency set, or? Wellingtons were they a glossy finish? I feel inclined to stick with the painting instructions.
  12. Hi all Is there any conversions I can perform on the T.11 to make a different a/c perhaps scrounging parts from other kits? I think I have the Frog Vampire & Venom acting as loft insulation! Thanks in anticipation for any suggestions and ways to go about it.
  13. Very nice, I hope it's rereleased in the future
  14. Not rare but the P1127 and the Bulldog are lovely models that I could make multiple times!
  15. Thanks Paul. Hannants site confusing. It seems to be aimed at the Academy kit.EDSS263? My Library is helpful it has the Polish mmp book: Bf 109 Late versions Camouflage & Markings. It includes 1/48 (trying to remember formula for photo copying to 1/72) plans in side view and colour profiles and a RLM colour chips. Importantly it shows the vertical tail plane and some retain the G-6 configeration
  16. Tamiya kit: flying surfaces match perfectly. Fuselarge little more awkward to compare matching them up agaist each other because Tamira aim to increase the parts count, however seem compatible. Airfix omit the Bomb rack (ETC 500), while the nose of the SC 250 bomb nose is too bulbous. Finally the canopies Here Tamiya are superior ,but no 'Gallahand hood' so no manouverability regards mark of Messerschmitt. I've aimed at a balanced appraisal. As regards price, well I've still got memories of choosing Airfix in the 1960s because my pocket money would not stretch to the Frog model. Apparently there is a etch set available to enhance the cockpit detail. Does anyone know about this?
  17. Now there's a suggestion: 172 Sabre F86A Please Airfix Only Matchbox attempted this and got the wings wrong
  18. Thanks guys! Aww! might Airfix laser scan the original Sam-2 Guideline Missile and give that a bit of a makeover? I'm hoping file and Perfect Plastic Putty will give me the two seperate bulges. As for shape I've spent ages comparing it to photos and otherwise it seems very accurate to me, as is the pilot! A G-14 seems to have been fitted with a different engine and whether that changed the shape, I cannot tell.
  19. C'mon it's not bad. Terrible around the cockpit area, one needs to scratch build a plate then there is no instrument panel, no pilot's head protector. These omissions are made up for by the addition of under wing armament of cannon and morters. These being omitted from expensive inports that some might say they have gone overboard with cockpit detail.
  20. Hi all I know this kit has the Erla Haube canopy aka 'Gallahand hood' so once fitted and appropiate decals added, can I call it an accurate 109G-14?
  21. Yes Airfix a Ju 88A-1 or A-2 in 1/72 please complete with crew figures. I don't think their old mold A-4 deserves to see the light of day. Frog was more accurate!
  22. /media/tinymce_upload/7df65d9ddaf6d9230a4720c75e7d5429.jpg
  23. I certainly would have tried this had Aifix included Israeli markings. What additions/changes to I have to make to it to depict this as an Israeli a/c?
  24. Thanks Ratch But do I trust: "15 - Deep Cream .............. 24 - Trainer Yellow"? My inclination is to add a little 24 to Humbrol AB0103EP 103 Cream Matt to create a mid colour.
  25. Do let me know what paints you use. My kit gives the colours in discontinued Airfix paints. Probably a 1980 'pressing' that I look forward to completing, when I find a picture of a southern North Sea based boat.
