  1. Railroad Deltic with CL56 sounds for now and Railroad CL47 with CL56 sound. Plenty of room in Deltic - enough room but less so in 47.
  2. Thank you Hornby for the latest update on sound releases with the planned release dates for new files included. Sets expectations and helps plan my decoder fitting.
  3. At the end of the day, Hornby is a business and needs to make money. Creating profiles is undoubtedly time consuming and costly, and clearly, current and upcoming models are a priority. Profiles also need to cover cost in terms of sales. What will help is a schedule of releases as promised in the earlier live broadcast, which sets expectations. HM7000 is really brilliant and people just want profiles to use and experiment with.

  5. Railroad Deltic with TXS are due this autumn. DP1 I assume will use the same sound due next Autumn. 47 TXS due this summer and a 37 sound file is on the list in the catalogue. I suspect they will add files like DMU / 153 (scotrail 153 due this summer). We may even see files that are not current range to boost sales like Class 25/26/27.
  6. My decoder is in a Hornby decoder insulating sleeve and loaded first time for all updates including sound profile on an iPad Mini 4.
  7. Just used the app and it is really good. Quite intuitive so easy to get going quickly. First time linked to decoder and updated firmware. Think I might be buying a few more of these!
  8. The app isn’t out yet - sounds like you are using the DC Bluetooth app. Once the apple shop releases the DCC app, you will be able to upload new sound files. TheAndroid app will be a few weeks.
  9. No you haven’t wasted your money. The DCC app will be out in the next few days which will make it all work brilliantly. Frustrating but patience required. As someone who waited 3 years for a Deltic I’m ok with it.
  10. To Be fair, if you scan the QR code on the instruction sheet with the decoder, it does take you to the HM DC app.
  11. These will have been tested on a number of locos for literally thousands of hours. Yes there may be the odd one that fails. I installed an 8 pin and it’s working really well. Don’t forget they will need to be put in an insulation sleeve to ensure no damage to the board from shorts etc.
  12. Just fitted to a Railroad Deltic - the sound is gorgeous. Be even better when it has a Deltic sound profile in. The largest enclosure fits the Deltic with the edge tabs removed (just).
  13. Interesting when you click on HM7000 on front page it takes you back to front page so they have obviously developed a whole set of content which will be enabled when the App goes live, which must be soon.
  14. The decoder comes with a good quality ‘sugar cube’ speaker which is pre-wired to plug straight into the decoder. It also has a set of different size speaker enclosures.
  15. It’s really simple - you can configure the decoder really easily to work with conventional DCC (e.g. Select or Elite). The only use for the App is then updating firmware on the decoder or changing the sound file, which historically, we never had any option to do.
  16. Had the same note - my decoders are about to dispatch
  17. So my 8 pin sound decoders are showing ‘Spring 2023’. When my Lady Di TTS showed Autumn 2022, it showed up at the beginning of September. So according to that logic that means Spring starts at the beginning of March, so could be anytime.
  18. If you want tactile you can use the HM7040 dongle to combine a Hornby DCC controller with the App. Alternatively you can set the decoders to DCC manual and use them conventionally.
  19. At Model Rail Scotland today, they had an HS125 with a sound chip in and it sounded very good. They said there would be an announcement in the ‘next few weeks’ regarding release of the app and decoders. They showed a little bit of the app and it looked fairly user friendly and intuitive.
  20. So if they’ve been sent to influencers, it will probably be for publicity. If it was meant to be kept quiet, he will never be sent anything again.
  21. I’ve recently serviced some 3 rail locos and in good running order they will typically draw 0.6 Amps ish. A controller cannot put too much power in - the loco can draw too much power (e.g. short circuit). Some controllers use Pulse Width Modulation where the output voltage remains constant but is pulsed to effectively control the power. Not all locos like this. You can pick up original Dublo controllers off the auction site very cheap and out of 2 I’ve bought, one works perfectly. A word of caution though. These older controllers use rubber coated mains cable and it can perish and break down, so caution is advised when plugging them in. I normally run a meter over them before plugging in.
  22. I’ve searched the internet and cannot find an answer. Will the 21 pin sound decoder fit into my Bachmann (NRM) DP1?
  23. Just got my renewal through for digital copy at just under £50 for a year. I let it lapse and took out new subscription from the Hornby Magazine website for £34.99. I always shop around now and get frustrated that loyal customers still don’t get the best deals.
