  1. @PeterM67 Be careful, if you add the Colas that will be four variants and then the last one would be inevitable! I haven’t even decided on the 66… I love British Rail colours but that seems a bit of a cop out when looking at the other liveries. My steam era layout is going to have some odd locos making guest appearances!
  2. I’m still not sure which class 50 to get. Better decide soon… both look so good. I really like Defiance but that’s a year away so I’m not waiting that long! I’ve seen images of GBRf Hercules with a Pullman charter going through where I live but of course Hercules is being released as Sir Edward Elgar in green so it wouldn’t look right… I could use Defiance to simulate that and also go for Leviathan to match my 08 shunter. But if you’re buying two of them… it seems rude to leave one out 😂.
  3. Thanks for that, I was hoping a spray would be recommended. Will grab some. I seems like I need a lot to get going, next step will be getting GWR colour paints and decent glues. Once I’ve got it all I really hope I enjoy the kits 😅
  4. Here’s one I was working on before I decided to downsize. It’s 6x4 with radius 2-4 on the curves.
  5. This project looks very interesting so I’ll be watching with interest. The time lapse video really shows off the way it can be used to simulate realistic movements. You’re right about the DMU - we need one, it’s probably time we all hounded Hornby to bump it up the roster 😅
  6. @Mulsanne88 what primer would you recommend? I’m likely to do the Peco kits so I think I’ll need some.
  7. @Trevor-353714 I found your videos about a month ago, I really like the layout! The big station is very impressive!
  8. @Dave the Busker That’s actually quite a genius idea. If they knew people were doing it they might do a sheet of TT doors?
  9. I have uploaded my first ever video to YouTube! We need more TT content out there to counter the negatives and once I started talking I just kept going so I hope it is of some interest and not too much waffle.
  10. I wonder how long each livery will stay in the range before being changed? One good thing regarding a starter set is that although the HST is not having different running numbers due to the coaches matching, this will not be an issue with the Class 50 in a starter set. It would be great to get a different one in it.
  11. @Moccasin That's not a bad idea, they were quick off the mark! I have just recorded my first video... inspired by @GMD and @Peachy . I keep seeing people who have been in the shadows like I have sometimes and are frightened to show what they have (or have not) done. So I've taken the plunge and I will show mine off to the wider world. I think watching this recent video with Simon has made me realise that those of us that are already committed to TT need to speak louder and be heard. We love TT, it's the perfect scale and we are not going anywhere!
  12. Just watched, another great video. I’m enjoying seeing the TT community really grow into its own thing and as much as the internet can allow the negative views of some it is allowing us to watch these positive videos such as yours and also people showing their TT layouts. Just an idea for a future video, could there be a spotlight on specific layouts and maybe an interview with the creator? That way we could get some layout buildings tips from those who are further along. As you said in the video so many TT modellers are new or returning from childhood and would value some conversational tips whilst being shown examples of a layout. Perhaps High Fell would Be a good candidate…
  13. @Rallymatt I can see the issue with fruit! 😂 Thank you both for clarifying the sizes. I think I might go Croft!
  14. Now a few people may have them on their layouts, how are the buildings looking in relation to each other? I saw the church, pub and bungalow on a YouTubers layout and they all looked different scales? Perhaps it was the angle or camera though. My layout is very small - even the goods shed looks quite large so I’m going to have to choose carefully. I’d be interested to know how people have got on.
  15. I can join you in that predicament @Andrew-372848… I have a vast collection of Lego that stops me from having more space. I already stole some space for the railway I have, who knows how it will end 😅. It sounds like your layout is going to work perfectly for you. I’m looking forward to seeing it progress!
  16. The best layout is the one that speaks to you! If it doesn’t look right once it’s done then you would have learnt that too. Just a thought, there isn’t a track that leaves the loop if you ever wanted to expand. you’d have to dismantle some of the track.
  17. Not a bad idea @StuLarge. I want to be able to do some inglenook shunting puzzles on it so that might get in the way. I’ll set one up and have a play to see!
  18. I’m glad that I’ve currently opted to return to DC although that’s only for now. Let’s hope they can get it worked out sooner rather than later. The 08 is amazing I actually use it the most due to shunting. At least the various upcoming locos have front couplers so people can do a bit more on their layouts.
  19. @Andrew-372848 My advice would be to go for the current simpler version and have a story of why the siding is there such as coal merchant / coaling area. My layout is 4ft by 2ft 8. I’ve removed lots of track to allow a scenery for the layout to sit into. I’m more excited about it now than I was when I was determined to overdo it.m with track.
  20. Thanks for the replies, I had also thought about clearance from the main line as it would nice to have some coal staithes on the other siding. I’ll have a play later and see if I can switch the point from a right hand to a left hand. Luckily I haven’t glued anything yet!
  21. Does anyone know how far along the tracks a goods shed should be placed? Should the buffer stop be beyond it or can it be inside. I’m quite limited for space so I want to get the most out of it - also the goods shed covers up the siding behind which I will need to see for shunting operations so the further along the track the better. Pics attached show how I assume it should be. If I moved it a bit more to allow the buffer into the shed, I may be able to get the uncoupler closer to the goods shed (and I might put one on the other siding for easy operations?) edit: I will also have to check clearances from coaching stock if I move it
  22. Can the 08 and one wagon travel up the siding? Perhaps put a merchant of some kind up there awaiting his weekly wagon?
  23. Looking fantastic @Andrew-372848! I’m pleased to see other smaller layouts appearing. Proper table top style! It was such a good idea to put points within the loop, it makes good use of the width. Looking forward to seeing more.
  24. @PeterM67 Thank you for that response, it’s good to hear that you’ve really had a go and that the couplings have been okay! If I pulled a full rake it really would be chasing its tail! Of course this a tempting idea… Is the GWR full train as beautiful as I’m imagining it? I’ve seen loads of videos with the other two which look splendid but not many people seem to have bought the GWR one. Perhaps I should start saving more with the expectation that I will want all three 😂.
