  1. @Hobby1707822967 I for one would not have bought this months Hornby mag if the catalogue was not inside. So it worked as a marketing strategy. It was fun trying to get hold of one as early as possible on release day!
  2. Thanks for the comments, it’s definitely going to run on radius 2 so it’s just a question of do I buy it now or later… I did think that yes it may run but I don’t have a long enough area to store even two coaches and two power cars 😂. So! I think I may wait a few months and put aside some cash with the intention of building an extension fiddle yard / station area that can store longer trains that then appear on the layout and run around the loop. Other option is complete this small layout and go bigger…
  3. @dBerriff Hornby track is great for the quick start. I’m indecisive with track plans and set track has been invaluable. The points as you say are good, they look much more realistic that the OO radius 2 curve ones! @Moccasin I have always loved set track plans from Hornby or Peco, Such a nice touch. There’s nothing stopping those of us with software from replicating something similar and sharing them… not a bad idea!
  4. At least your channel is viewed by TT fans and users. Hornby will know that your viewers are all customers 😊. I suspect if a OO channel did the same video it would have been negative and most viewers would be OO users anyway! So many of us have turned away from OO channels *cough*Sam*cough*.
  5. Just watched the review, felt very good… how I think any one of us would review it. He mentioned a few things like the tape and small radius running but added the tape can be removed and that his curves are just shy of radius 2. Very balanced and focusing on the right things, how it runs, looks and sounds.
  6. Blimey this has been rumbling on for weeks now! Hornby can (and regularly do) what they like and owe us nothing… I’m with Hornby on this one. If they did print the catalogue and sold it for £5 then that’s no different to buying it with the magazine so just buy the magazine and throw it in the recycling if you genuinely do not enjoy reading modelling mags. As far as posting it online, we’ve all waited months for TT content in the past so what’s a few weeks? They could have done the announcement with no catalogue at all! It’s all on the website to preorder. That’s my two cents anyway, it’s just getting too negative and there’s enough Hornby bashing on YouTube without bringing it here. They’re trying hard to get us what we want and I doubt a catalogue is top of the priority list. (I already have read the comments to disagree with me above so no need to repeat, it seems I am in the minority and that is fine. Just wanted to put a different opinion in on that catalogue).
  7. It’s difficult because I live in GWR territory but all three liveries have been on the tracks here, I’m old enough to remember swallow from my childhood so for me that is the classic version. I would love first great western liveries more if I’m honest though, I travelled on them the most. I doubt we’ll see them for ten years or more. I suspect they will refresh the HSTs every few years so it’ll take a while to come around. Choosing a livery feels like a big decision when you factor in buying all the coaches too (just in case I get a long run of track I wouldn’t want to not have the whole train!)
  8. Thanks guys, I think the overhang will look a bit comical but luckily I haven’t attached anything around the track yet! Well it seems like a good idea to get the HST! Now I just have to decide which one…
  9. To those with a HST and Mk3, how do they run on Radius 2 curves? How are the couplings out of the box for both power cars and coaches? I currently have only radius 2 (making a ‘have a go’ small layout before committing to a big one) so I would love to know if it’s worth getting one yet. I had a gift voucher from work so I could use it towards a HST but only if it will actually run on my track!
  10. I’m about half hour into the new episode, I’ll finish it later as I’m working today. It’s really good so far, it’s great to hear that they are always fixing the issues and applying what they have learnt to the next ones. I want to know what the two small locos they are working on are.. presumably we already know about them?
  11. I have changed the track plan - much simpler. Thinking of shifting to either Heritage period or final days of a closing branch line around 1970.
  12. I do wish Sam would ask people who Model in TT their opinion. If they released a new loco every month we’d all be bankrupt !
  13. I’m actually at the point myself of switching back to DC. Perhaps I should invest in a DCC system in the future but I’m not a fan of the Bluetooth at all - two main reasons are that I do not like having to use a device (essential for HM7000) and when it all cuts out because a Pacific derails and catches the points it takes a while to get it all going again. One thing I would note however, running DC using Hornby offerings from The Scotsman set is no piece of cake either. I have also found one dodgy set of points, possibly damaged by aforementioned derailing of a Pacific. So I shall need to invest in a better DC controller. Also I have two locos without blanking plates so that’s a shame. I am only planning a very small DC layout however and intend to return to DCC control if I make a larger layout. That would be sensible and by then I will hopefully have learnt more regarding track and perhaps getting my Pacific locos that derail sorted out. I don’t think I will buy anymore large steam era locos though, the bogies are too much of a pain and I think diesels will run better on the tracks. Just my thoughts. I hope you enjoy your return to TT!
  14. Looking forward to watching when it comes out, I’ll have to get the popcorn ready!
  15. Oh no I really want an 800 if they do GWR livery 😅
  16. The goods shed is quite close to the loop. I used the small quarter straights to extend that area. What will be the longest item in TT? Mk3? I did think I might have to buy one before I make my platform or set any buildings. But I can’t afford a HST to go with it 😂.
  17. Don’t worry @Rallymatt the engine shed will be easily removed… I’ve got to keep my options open!
  18. Here is my current layout of Holway Green. I don’t have any radius 1 to play with, I was thinking of putting in a bit more track at the back but otherwise the front is looking fairly good I feel. I’ve been running it today, you can pretty much only fit on the locos and rolling stock you see in the picture but that’s fine. Once the smaller locos can run in HM7000 they will make that easier. Also, the siding at the back and the one that becomes the engine shed will be where the track may extend should I add on another section in the future… that would allow a full third radius loop. (Currently only have a full second radius loop). Station will need to sit on the front left corner.
  19. It’s looking good so far. Liking the idea of having the fiddle yard on the one board, you have quite a lot of room to store whole trains in.
  20. I thought it was good to see how someone else does it. I especially like the raised area. Interested to see how that goes.
  21. Looking great as always. The farm and church area looks fantastic in the background of the station area.
  22. Great idea. In the live Q&A they said they would value our opinion.
  23. Today I have received the 50’ Passenger Brake, two double straights and some new couplings to replace the Peco ones. The 50’ brake is currently travelling around my radius 2 track with a small amount of drag but is moving surprisingly well as part of a train.
  24. @Rallymatt Thanks, keep making those how to videos!
