  1. I can’t wait to get the mini and the London bus. The price is so good, I’m pleased they are doing well for Oxford. It seems TT is the future for a lot of companies, those who model in OO will already have the vehicles they need so a fresh range and scale is bound to continue to do well as long as we adopt it as modellers. That video of Sam’s is not ageing well at all…
  2. It’s looking really good @Dodge1965 ! Your layout will have some lovely details. I can’t wait to see it featured in a modelling magazine !
  3. @Dodge1965 The intercity looks amazing I’m enjoying watching you all get to grips with them! I don’t know if I will get one so I’m living through everyone who did right now!
  4. I think this is what TT was made for in some respects. The more I design a loop layout it becomes as large as my previous OO layouts and that wasn’t what attracted me. I want something that is just as effective as a display for my models as it is fun to run so I will be really interested in people’s thoughts on this. Having read a lot of modelling magazines in the last year I’ve seen a lot of the show circuit ones are portable end to ends that add on fiddle yards - that sounds great for me as the main module could be on a shelf and taken down for running with fiddle yards if needed.
  5. I don’t really engage in social media but I suppose those who do might cause a lot of trouble for a manufacturer. Shame that we live in a world where it is preferable not to produce something than to deliver it late. This is off topic however so no more on this from me here.
  6. Just knowing it was coming would satisfy I guess but yes it would take some time. They would have to do something they thought Hornby were not touching as well, to take full advantage.
  7. Dodge ! If this is true I’m so excited! If Bachmann are doing Thomas in OO and Tomix in N then perhaps Hornby would do well in TT… you can show them the way.
  8. I do think it’s possible that we’ll see some of the less popular first wave discontinued in favour of new variants. I’m still on the fence with Flying Scotsman and Falcon. I’m hoping for a new catalogue in April and that may well give us an answer as to the longevity of some items. I can see them changing up the initial wagons for new liveries especially as they need to compete with Peco. I also think A3 Flying Scotsman is a definite and is the reason I’ve not yet bought the A1 version (I have Blink Bonny to satisfy that need).
  9. I’m currently with you Mocassin, I’m starting to think I’m more of a TT collector than a modeller. I’m currently looking at the small shelf layout idea. Perhaps a heritage railway station with sidings. Just shunting a few wagons.
  10. It looks really good. A lot of fun to be had and you can keep a few bits of rolling stock on it at the same time. Looking forward to future updates.
  11. @Moccasin You wouldn’t want to leave without a souvenir surely… as you say it would be rude… The problem with wagons is you can justify having more of the same to make a longer train!
  12. It’s so good to see it on shelves. My local Hornby stockist don’t have any yet but I’d definitely find myself picking up extra wagons all the time if and when they do!
  13. I think if TT continues to have success then Metcalfe will follow, perhaps starting with railway buildings to test the water. My main hope is that one of the model locomotive manufacturers gets on board soon with a one off loco just to see how it goes. If enough of us were interested they may keep going. Hopefully they would ensure it could accommodate all Hornby digital tech as many of us are using HM7000 exclusively.
  14. I love Thomas and friends so I’m loving this Devious Diesel! Perhaps High Fell needs a larger engine then @Rallymatt?
  15. I quite like the radius 1 bit, it could have a small industry served by an 08 on it.
  16. The new Oxford Diecast vehicles came today. They are very nicely done and will look great on the layout.
  17. Postman - It’s certainly effective, it’ll look great with scenery. I am trying to stick to the one board for now as I need to get something done before I move onto anything else 😅.
  18. Postman, how big is your table? The bridge sounds great, it always adds so much depth. You had a good area for shunting activities at the front, I think that’s a great idea. I like how it isn’t all square either, mine feels a bit constrained into the space.
  19. New version, I made the baseboard bigger so that I could try and fit a bit more in.
  20. @Mocassin I think being compared to Mr A.J. Rimmer alone should be enough for me to get on with it! I am definitely guilty of overthinking every detail to the detriment of actually getting anything done. Thank you to all so far for suggestions, I’m glad I asked - it’s so easy to miss small details. I will get back on anyrail and look at modifications.
  21. Well spotted Dodge. I was only thinking about these this morning! Order placed, looking forward to seeing them.
  22. Hi all, I've been playing around with anyrail, trying to get a small and simple layout together. I keep trying to go over the top and stalling so I think for my own sanity and that of those around me at home I need to think smaller for now and prove that I can get on with a layout! I'm also thinking that as I do not have a desk, by starting small I can incorporate a desk into the room also to do modelling tasks. The current idea is 5ft x 3ft2. As you will see there is a siding in the top left of the layout. Perhaps an expansion could go there in the future. The inner curve is radius 2 leading to the Goods Shed so can be used by all engines. I would appreciate any thoughts and I can then think of changes! The key items are goods area and station with village in the middle gap. I have four BR maroon coaches, three carmine and cream and four pacifics. (Blink Bonny, Mallard, WIlliam Whitelaw and Trigo). So I'm really looking at late steam era as I plan to run green diesels also. Era 3 engines will be run for fun and I will buy other stock from the future but only for my own enjoyment such as intercity with three coaches - I know this isn't going to fit my station as it is but I do not want to regret not getting it in a few years time. Here it is so far:
  23. I had to wait until my day off to watch the interview, I really enjoyed it. 👌
  24. @mr2002 I saw that video too. Such a shame as it looked pretty good as a little layout.
  25. My Main hold back has a lot to do with the big question: Will TT succeed? I also went in all guns blazing at the start but got caught up when people were harsh about things not being prototypical. I ripped up my track as I didn’t realise that trains generally run on the left. Once I’d taken it up I didn’t have the oomph to relay it the correct way - the forum seems calmer about this stuff now I would suggest though. Since then I’ve packed it all away, table is now a built in wardrobe and I started collecting Lego again with the intention of making a Lego City. It’s not the same though! I really want that model railway. Even today I’m not decided on TT, OO or Lego. Lego and OO are too large though and I can’t get past the planning stage as I don’t want to risk making a huge layout. So… I’m thinking of trying to replicate the layout in the TT catalogue. I always start thinking of extras to add to it but I almost need to prove to myself that I can chose a simple project and stick to it. (Added bonus, I have everything to do it in the cupboard - just need the board).
