  1. I’m trying to find out if the Class 67 in this pack has NEM pockets? Whilst I understand the 67 in this pack is of Railroad spec, the images I’ve seen show it to have the slim tension lock coupling so just wondering if this has been upgraded on this model? I’m just not a fan of any tension locks and tend to swap out for either Kadee or Hunt couplings. Thanks
  2. We have this set under our Christmas tree. With the added weight of the moulds from the Christmas wagons, it tops out at 7 wagons.
  3. That’s what made me think of it. I was half expecting that there wouldn’t be any big 2023 announcements. Surely would be a bit tough taking on a whole bunch of new announcements considering having just taken on a new scale and everything else that is already in waiting.
  4. Does anybody know the date of when this is happening?
  5. @fazy This is interesting! Where did you get those figures from out of interest? Really surprising to hear that Bachmann dropped a cool million on the production of a model! @elocoloco It was kind of my night off. I’ll probably get slated for this but I work on the railway and there’s a fair few strikes going on.
  6. Please hear me out on this one and if I’m wrong, feel free to put me in my place. But… Why is it that model manufacturers are unable to keep up with the releases of new trains. If a new class of train is released, I feel that it’s such a massive thing in the railway community. Yet a new model being released is a bit “meh” at times. Production of a real train is so much bigger (76 times apparently) than the production of a model. Surely these model manufacturers should be jumping on everything new that happens. Now I know that there’s hundreds of years of “back catalogue” to cover. But with models being easier to produce than actual trains, catching up shouldn’t be too much of an issue and surely producing a model of a numerous class is easier than producing something that is virtually extinct? Finally, it’s my night of work (I work on the railway, although not guilty of striking), I’ve had a couple of drinks, so please excuse my over use of the word “surely”
  7. I have some hidden “off scene” radius 1 sections. In fact, they are marginally tighter than radius 1 as it’s Trix C Track. It also has a reverse curve section so really is worst case scenario. Stock that I have run round them include: Lima Class 117 Lima Class 67 Lima Class 47 Hornby Class 67 Hornby Class 121 Bachmann Class 166 Bachmann Class 205 Bachmann Class 70 Bachmann Class 24 Bachmann Class 171 Hornby Class 73 Dapol Class 73 Hornby Class 20 The Bachmann 171 has pretty long coaches. In fact I think you’d be hard pushed to find anything longer than these which leads me believe that most multiple units would probably be fine. The Bachmann class 205 has a solid bar coupling between the unites but still no problem. All coaches and wagons have been ok for me. Hornby mk4 coaches are also quite long but they make it round ok. And the Bachmann Class 70, also quite a heft Co-Co unit, no problems so I’d imagine most diesels would be fine. The only unit that has caused me issues so far is the Hornby class 395 which I suspect is due to the type of coupling.
  8. It's someone else's vision and I have my own for my layout. As you say it probably wouldn't fit your room/shed.If you stripped it down, how much would be usable, since the track would be fixed down, ballasted and probably difficult to remove without damage? Landscaping would probably be damaged at any joins between baseboards. Maybe bridges, tunnel entrances, buildings, signals and other fixtures, vehicles, people, animals could be salvaged? All very good points! I guess this is why second hand layouts don’t appear to be worth that much compared to what has probably been spent on them. But surely there’s a large enough market of people that just want to run trains rather than building themselves?
  9. I’ve no experience of buying a full layout or any intention to. I’m interested to know if anybody on here has? I see plenty of layouts for sale that look like they’ve been built specifically to fit a certain room or space. Especially layouts that are built up against the walls on the outer edge of a room. Obviously people would look to buy one that fits their room, but they come in so many shapes and sizes, finding a perfect match seems highly unlikely. When buying these layouts, is the idea to modify it in some way to fit your space? Or is it more about stripping it down for parts?
  10. Far fetched but a 171, 377 & 700 would see me ripping up my layout and switching in an instant.
  11. I honestly don’t understand what your post and video is about?
  12. Whilst I’m not denying that’s expensive, I think you may be looking at the wrong locomotive. The Dublo ones are over £300.
  13. There are shorter consists. As small as 2 power cars and 4 coaches. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Classes_253,_254_and_255
  14. I’ve just put in my first and only ever pre-order. For years I’ve been waiting for a Southern Electrostar but when Hornby announced the Southern 4vep, it helped to scratch an itch! Expected at the back end of 2023, I decided to pre-order, not because I’m worried about stock, but because others have said the pre-order price is honoured? I don’t honestly expect this model before 2025 so I don’t know what it would cost then. Either way I’ll try and forget about it and hopefully it’ll be a happy surprise when it arrives. I don’t think it’ll sell all that well so I just hope that it doesn’t get dropped!
  15. I feel that a free track planning app would help the campaign. If I’m going to make that step to change from OO, I want to know what I can do in the space that I have available with TT.
  16. I’m looking for some information on the railroad class 67 as I can’t find what I believe to be the correct specs anywhere. Do the new railroad 67’s have the directional headlights? I make this assumption as I believe the railroad version to be based on the old Lima tooling which had headlights (no tail lights) which illuminated in the direction of travel. Does anybody know if they have nem pockets? The pictures indicate that they don’t although I have not seen a picture of a “real” one, only what looks to be artwork. The old Lima tooling did not and I still haven’t found a way to change the couplings on them. Hopefully somebody on here has already bought one or knows a bit more info. Thanks in advance.
  17. Could try using multiple locos at the same time?
  18. I’m not sure what they’re based on, but seeing as they’re novelty items rather than prototypical, run them with whatever you want.
  19. I generally find a decent range available at the larger exhibitions. I picked up multiple 66 & 67 tts decoders from Kent Garden Railways stand. They may have some in stock if you give them a call.
  20. No need to pay silly prices just yet. I just picked one up a couple of hours ago in a shop for £260.
  21. Just a quick one. I came across these stones in “The Range”. Looks like a fairly cheap way to ballast at £4.99 for 2.2kg! What over cheaper ways have people found to ballast?
  22. Rather than start a new thread, I thought I’d just add to this one… Does anybody know if the buffers on this model just pull out? I want to replace them with the larger type but obviously without breaking anything. Thanks
