  1. From the off I’ve employed varying lengths of hunt magnets on these and they’ve worked. Not because I had coupling issues, just because I use hunt couplings on everything.
  2. In hindsight, I’d not have used a 3% and tried to accommodate 2% at both sides but that would have included more R4 curves on the incline so somewhat self defeating. The branch doing the same distance one way at 2% is more agreeable I’m thinking.
  3. Any passing resemblance to Skelton Junction is but a memory from January last year and I can see why folks give their layouts fictional names. Still, as @Too Tallsaid, prototypical running is important. Also, rule #1 😊.
  4. I’m considering returning the elevated section to baseboard level and moving the branch line turn out to the other side of the layout thus providing the additional length to just go up to the fiddle yard/halt rather than the loop having gone up and down in the space.
  5. Though once the TT120 tank engine appears and pulls the 50 and 57 footers out of platform 3 down the Dyffryn Conwy branch line then that’ll be what the Reverend based it on (for me).
  6. At Skelton Junction there are two gradients to the elevated section, 2% and mallard pulls 4 mk1s happily or a dozen trucks. 3% will climb but with less authority (think Henry, not Gordon). HST (both locos and three coaches) does both without blinking. 08 will do half a dozen trucks ok. any more and there’s a complaint. I’m expecting the 50s and 66s to emulate the HST and do both with ease. hope this helps in some way.
  7. Ideas for buildings. I bought loads of Lyddle End (Hornby’s old N gauge) industrial/farm/station buildings and swap them here there and everywhere until I’m content. Some images for scale attached. Non residential are more scale variable friendly than houses

  12. Just the fact it says Y Cymro is tempting me in to a second HST. Da Iawn Hornby.
  13. Evening Star was one of my favourites from back in the day and whilst I’m not planning on adding a 9F to the shed I’ve placated myself with the 66 bearing the same name.
  14. Can panoramic mode work somehow? Trying to avoid half a dozen disjointed images.
  15. Other than the known items in the coming phases I’d really appreciate the tanker to appear so those 57’ coaches can trundle the branch line from platform 3 at Betws y Coed
  16. And 21t mineral wagons but not Glenhafod which are stubbornly still showing 2025 (or nearly half eight in old money).
  17. That’s entirely true and a variation on Parkinson’s law.
  18. Hornby’s substantial Lyddle End N gauge buildings work well in TT120. One person’s brick industrial unit is another’s trackside hut.
  19. I had initial reluctance to engage from mk3 to loco but since successfully cajoling their relationship into something more committed they’ve run happily and without incident.
  20. Thank you to all that contributed on this thread to the setting up of my HST. Decoders and speakers installed without issue, profiles installed and I’m happy to report that the red coach lines from power cars to coaches match up perfectly. Now just waiting on the ability to consist at the next app update. oh, and by the way, it’s a toptastic model
  21. Yay. I can now agree with the title of this thread.
  22. Funny you should say that Matt. I’ve several of the Corgi models in storage intended for some kind of museum section but operational space is deemed to be more important, currently. Also, the corgi variants don’t sit on real track too well.
  23. My mallard has a large chunk missing from one of its driving wheels. Goodness knows how that happened. Now makes a speed dependent thudding noise on straight track. Once the HST, 50s and 66s arrive she’ll be reduced to heritage work.
  24. I’ve a notification from DPD that they’re expecting my parcel from Rails. Hope it’s the HST preorder and not the peco wagons ordered yesterday.
