  1. These wagons should be ok for late era 5? They would be hauled by steam trains when new.
  2. Yes seem pretty good. A tiny bit of binding at first on some of them but free up after a little running in.
  3. Yeah it’s just mad that they don’t combine shipping. I received two parcels today from the delivery driver. So both were packaged and sent out at the same time.
  4. Nice to see these etched details becoming available for TT.
  5. My first batch of TTA wagons has arrived. Beautiful models, incredibly well detailed. Unfortunately Hornby are shipping them all separately instead of combining shipping so it’s going to be an expensive order!
  6. According to Hornby it’s not a mistake. They have removed the discounts for this model. Why they’ve done that is open to speculation. There are plenty of other models not due until Autumn or even next year which do have discounts so I’m not sure your theory holds up.
  7. The original membership gave a 15% discount on Hornby TT store purchases plus 10% in Hornby points. Those perks were only valid for 12 months and most members are nearing the end of that period. New members don’t get the discount, and existing members will have lost it by the time the new models are announced in April. The green Class 08 was leaked/announced early so Hornby don’t seem to be honouring discounts on pre-orders of that model.
  8. I had a reply stating that member discounts are no longer being offered, which is true for new members but doesn’t make sense for those of us with a few weeks discount remaining. Very harsh for those who sprang for the paid membership as well?
  9. I just received the email letting me know my TTA order has been dispatched.
  10. They must have sold out. I placed a pre-order on Monday. This sounds like a re-run of the preorders for the first three wagons, those also sold out on pre-order. Hopefully Hornby add more production slots, these wagons seem to be really popular. I’ve not seen any appear on eBay so buyers are definitely holding on to them.
  11. It’s really hard to give an answer to this one. Some items have gone out of stock and not returned (Mobil 12T tank wagons have been out of stock for about a year) Others have been regularly restocked (Pullmans and MK1 coaches) but then also recently been out of stock for a while. The Arnold container wagons were even sold out on preorder (I couldn’t pre-order any and had to grab them on release day). So the best course of action is to order what you really need while it’s in stock. These TTA wagons seem to have had a large initial delivery batch, so might not be restocked for a few months so if you want one I’d grab it now. You can’t rely on eBay for these, the Arnold container wagons haven’t shown up once on eBay as far as I can see and it might go the same way with the TTAs.
  12. Thats good news, I will pick up some extra Esso tankers for sure.
  13. The next release of these Arnold container wagons are available for pre-order in the web store now.
  14. The dapol ones are very nice, I bought one for my shelf layout. The difference in scale is not ideal but I think it’s a good stopgap.
  15. Hopefully not. How were you speaking to them? I emailed but no reply yet.
  16. It easy to forget that Hornby are also investing heavily in OO models. These new TTA tank wagons are both TT and OO scale releases, and it looks like the 21t mineral is also due to be a TT and OO release (Hornby effectively replacing some of the last of the old Hornby Triang models in the range). Hornbys future is more tied to the future of the hobby than it is to the models in their range imo. They have a bigger selection of models than any of their competitors, and cruicially Hornby also have a good range of prices. Models from pocket money toys all the way up to expensive finescale models. The competition doesn’t have that breadth, so as the demographics continue to move against model making as a hobby, I’d wager that Hornby are better positioned than the other UK railway manufacturers.
  17. A scratchbuilder can model in any scale, so it’s not possible to ‘kill’ a scale in real terms. However it is certainly possible for a scale to die in commercial terms. Triang TT 3mm scale is dead, and has been for over 60 years in commercial terms. No new commercially available RTR models in all that time, and the arrival of British TT 120 has surely made it impossible to ever return as an RTR proposition - there had been rumours of a Rapido TT 3mm model a few years back.
  18. Still no member discount on the Class 08 store page. Hopefully this gets sorted soon.
  19. I don’t believe that’s the case. You can check the stock levels by adding to your basket. It’s usually fairly accurate. These extras might be cancelled pre-orders or incorrect card details orders being released to stock. Right now it’s showing about 40 wagons in stock.
  20. I second the recommendation for cheap acrylic paints. Also worth mentioning that you can use a lot of N gauge accessories like bridges, tunnels, fences etc. so cheap secondhand scenery bits will save money.
  21. Payment have now been taken for all my orders. No e-mails yet for stock alerts or order updates, so maybe there is a problem with the Hornby e-Mail system. The only emails I am getting from them are those ‘did you forget something’ mails which seem to be coming through for completed orders! (The system thinks I left something in my basket when I actually completed the purchase),
  22. Keep checking the shop page, you may find some cancelled pre-orders end up back in the stock early next week.
  23. We know there 200+ of each model released to the shop, but pre-orders and retail stock numbers won’t be released. Your guess is as good as anyone’s, maybe 500 per wagon type total? So 1,500 tankers in the first batch? There is a theory that the restocking for the sets used up the production slots originally intended for these phase 1 & 2 models and if so, then it seems likely that Hornby are in ‘catchup’ mode now so perhaps would need to choose between more delays for the forthcoming models or leaving restocks of the TAA until phase 2 is complete?
  24. I emailed as well. I guess the more of us that ask about it the better.
  25. I had that same ‘did you forget something’ email despite having completed an order. No update e-mails for me either. Hopefully not a problem with my card causing the delay. I guess it could be caused by the fact they have several hundred orders to pack up and ship out? I imagine it will take a few days to clear that backlog.
