Howbi
You'll find a matching colour in either the Humbrol or Tamiya model paints range..........just google them and see their colour charts...........HB
NormanQ4
@New lad on blockWhy have you shown the B&Q colour card? It's not even close to either loco colour.
walkingthedog
Incredibly difficult to exact match a colour for anything unless you can take an example of the colour with you. Colours fade over time.
new lad on block
Hi Norman,my earlier post stated I was willing to go to B & Q to see if there was a colour match.Unfortunately there is not an exact match as I also posted. To save members visiting the store I decided to show the nearest colours in their range. The B & Q colours are nearer than the BR blues though. walkingthedog
As Thomas locos aren’t painted in proper railway colours it makes life difficult. I have just compared a Thomas body, that I found in the loft, with the Humbrol paint chart and none of the blues match.
new lad on block
Hi WTD,Before Gordon corrects you,Hornby UK Gordon, the blue is the colour of the plastic and is not painted blue.
walkingthedog
I am aware of that but the OP was asking for the colour that matches and that is what I was looking for. I know it is blue plastic I have it in my hand. The only way to answer the question is to compare it with paint colours. I was going to compare it with some old blue curtains but can’t find them. 😆 😆

NWR-Gordon-4
I think it's safe to say that Hornby have used bright colours for more or less everything they have released in their Thomas range, since the last 33 years, however, everything is bright in the TV series, hence the reasoning for this. I don't think any of Hornby Thomas stuff would look good, if they did not have bright colours. I do believe the only Thomas loco's that Hornby have released, that have realistic paint colours, is Bear and Flying Scotsman. Margate_Era_FTW
Hello everyone Thank you for the replies, I suppose there is no colors that exactly match but thank you all for your help, if only if one of us worked in the factory's back in the 80's we would know all the colors! lol
NWR-Gordon-4
I hope you don't mind me asking, Margate_Era_FTW, but I am most interested in why you want know the exact coloyr name, of the blue on a 1980's Gordon. Have you got one of these Gordon's and have scratched or chipped the paint and you want to repaint the damage, or similar? GNR-Gordon-

Have you got one of these Gordon's and have scratched or chipped the paint and you want to repaint the damage, or similar? GNR-Gordon-4I have a missing handrail on one side of the tender, u know in front of the tender, I was going to buy a spare black molding tender top and use an exacto knife to carefully cut away one of the handrails and paint it that color and glue it on, but I’m going to leave it alone now. NWR-Gordon-4
Yeah, I know the handrail you are talking about. That does not have much to do with the paint colour, though does it! 😆 😀 GNR-Gordon-
Postman Prat
If you read the post properly you would see that the handrail will be BLACK. That's why he wanted BLUE paint!!
