High Fell, BR (NER) in TT 120

I thought I recognised the Metcalfe farm buildings. They look very appropriate in the scene. It's not easy to tell from the photograph what weathering you've given them, but the Metcalfe buildings represent limestone whereas (yellow) sandstone would be more appropriate for most of the north-east.

Seen from a distance they don't obviously look like the wrong colour stone.

The farm and associated church was made from an outcrop of limestone carried on the backs of Nordic Squirrels from the secret limestone quarry 😉. Weathering on the buildings was limited to a few streaks from chimneys and some powder to take some of shine off, helps on photos where flash picks it out. Pretty happy with how the walls have turned out. 😁

@Bulleidboy, it’s an enormous 3.2m x 1.2m and the dock section not in the video is 3m x .25m with a small link section. It’s a decent space but TT:120 makes it a completely different opportunity. I’m looking forward to seeing some monster builds running full length trains (read 125s 🤣

Thanks for nice comments as always. I did the short on YT to get the point across that you can build and run a decent layout with what is available now. A little modellers licence here and there. I doubt many layouts are 100% strictly prototypical and who cares if they are or not. The hobby is meant to be fun not a penance!

Thanks Dodge, I think the area has reached its development limit. Parish council are very picky about new buildings. So glad I found a method of making decent (I think they are) but really inexpensive walls, there are miles of them! The ones you buy are either very expensive and passable or overpriced and rubbish. Hmmm next plan…..

Please don't degrade RM's thread with mention of Walls sausages ... only ones worse are Richmond. Get some proper Newmarket ones, your taste buds will love you for it 😆

Sorry, I'll get me coat 🤪

Considering (a) what Newmarket is famous for & (b) the supply-chain ‘problems’ that Tesco (amongst others) experienced a few years ago…

I’m surprised that sausages & Newmarket are a good association?! 😳🤷‍♂️

What scale is this? It's surely not TT. Everyone knows that you can't do serious modeling in TT scale!

🤣

Well it’s clearly not OO or N as the bodies match the gauge of the track! 😉

I’m sure non of the doom and gloomsters will take any notice of my amateur video efforts and what I have managed to bodge together on my layout 🤣

Considering the quality of the modelling on display at High Fell - I think the only part that might genuinely be described as a bodge (and even then not a serious criticism) - is the handheld/tripod-less camerawork. 😉

If you happen to possess either:
• a swivel/wheeled stool or computer chair
or
• an ordinary stool/chair & a modeller’s turntable/lazy susan

Then (with an appropriate sized box to achieve desired height) a bodger’s moving tripod can be achieved.

I accept that not everyone will have access to the above - but they are slightly more common than specialist photographic equipment.
