What did you receive today?

South Coast Flyer

Recommended Posts

I received my Flying Scotsman Bundle yesterday along with Track Packs 3-5, DCC Track Clip and Power for it along with a Sound Decoder. Just waiting patiently to finish work today to get the track set up, the decoder installed and the app downloaded on to my iPad...

Track Packs 2 & 3 to create the second oval for temporary table-top testing. That's likely to be all the Hornby track I'll need, as I intend to use Peco for an actual layout.

I notice the points in the packs have a slight bow in the middle (would need to be pinned or glued flat on a permanent layout) and the blade contacts underneath aren't very well formed - I'll have to fettle those. They seem worse than the point in my Easterner set.

I have - a train! Yesterday, a Fisons sulphuric acid tanker arrived, and today, a Toad E brake van! Just need a loco now, a few more wagons, and my Inglenook is good to go... In the absence of a Hornby steam shunter, my choice at the moment is a Class 08, although that is a bit modern for my liking.

I received 4 Arnold TT rekowagen coaches from Germany. Working out at 25 euro each. 6 wheelers which are more like what would have been used on my local branch line. I am going to replace the DR logo with a flying snail/ cie decal, paint the roof black and they will look more Irish than the BR mark 1s I have, that is for sure!forum_image_641dad45461c5.thumb.png.d7ef9b6c093be40b78b36950b5b69dff.png

Well, a couple of days ago actually but my pre-ordered BR brake van and a Mobil tanker have arrived. They're pictured here with an Arnold refrigerated ferry van (one of a pair I received a while back). Motive power is a Piko DR V60 (an 0-8-0 unlike the DB V60 which is an 0-6-0), one of a number of TT DR locos I have for a planned German TT layout.

Most of the stock uncoupled fine with the Tillig hand uncoupler (front right), with the single exception of the refrigerator van and brake van, but they yielded to the "shovel" tool. This was issued many years ago with a Hornby OO shunter's truck (not the 21st century version) which I obtained from eBay a couple of years ago.

The track is a test track made from Tillig "bedding" track.forum_image_641f11dab5134.thumb.png.a343a4b460a4017941e5b5584bf5b724.png

Nimbus, I found the Arnold coupling quite stubborn, putting the Tillig version in has transformed them but weirdly the Hornby TT:120 stock seems to have better couplings (easier to couple/uncouple) than the Hornby Arnold ones. Some nice things developing, I had a box of trinkets arrive from WHWW, a grey wet Sat well spent with the paints 😁forum_image_641f2e3e8c4e1.thumb.png.ab6fb0768c329ace0e15ce80ff3b97f6.pngforum_image_641f2e497f549.thumb.png.c3f7f405edc69fc81ceec6724ee512fe.pngforum_image_641f2e521e8ce.thumb.png.c5951d82af5e9b15816a31bbe69f998d.png

Today I received:

One pair of "extended to order" (85mm to cross a double track R3/R4 curve) level crossing gates:

Along with one single rail tunnel portal to be chopped down and used as a road tunnel into the layout:

And I visited the LHS, and picked up some WS "coarse" gravel, which I didn't think would look right, but actually, I think looks OK:

Picture is all "Course", I plan to mix it with some "Medium" of other shades.

A 5.5/2.5 mm jack plug and socket.

This is the correct size and not as stated in the Manual.

From

HM7000_Series_Decoders_Reference_Manual_-_140323.pdf

If Hornby are delayed in offering the R7403 adapter for the P9000W power supply… you can alternatively search eBay for CCTV power adapters/extenders. CCTV power distribution uses the same plug/socket as the P9000. i.e., the jack pug and inline jack socket is described as 5.5/2.1mm.

A lot of vendors offer both sizes.
