Here are a few pictures of the Braunshill layout in operation./media/tinymce_upload/cad9ff47f27abf8d34fac8206e55ffe6.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/80182d9f77b745044571e27e2be4f212.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/ed0975f6d7dbbd4ec1d42890eef776c1.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/2fe15440bec9cd5c9810580d123bc027.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/48366a54e4df923f5ba9936d3ca09dd9.JPG

Thank you, Freightliner, for your compliments - very much appreciated. The layout is not too large as it uses a small spare room in the house about 8ft.x10ft. As it is fitted around the walls there is no single baseboard, the width of the board ranging from 1ft. to 3ft. There are also several hidden storage yards at different levels. It's taken about 20 years to get it this far but it's still being improved.

Thanks, GWR. My own feeling about my layout (this one is the indoors DCC layout, not my garage one) is that it is too cluttered and disorganised. As it was my first effort though, with no experience or help other than from the kind folks on the forum it hasn't gone TOO badly, except when I had a meltdown of street lamps through incorrect wiring. I now try to stick to LED's for safety and durability reasons.

My no.1 garage DC layout is much bigger, 16' x 4' and is purely non-scenic and designed for running locos and testing and has 4 loops including an elevated one with a steep gradient crossing over the main lines. Plus a smaller 2-track DC layout, horseshoe-shaped, controlled by a H & M Duette, an excellent bit of kit, I find.

I am now running out of places to build -- maybe I'll be out on the lawn soon (in more ways than one, says SWAMBO !)  Actually building the layouts has probably been the best fun. I used to re-build old T-type MG's but too old these days, I'm afraid.

Great imgaes of you're layouts, David12 and Jimbopuff.  😀

David12, I especially like your final image, of the Scania R-Series BP tanker truck, close to the camera, with the fronnts of a Class 66, Class 68 and Class 08 poking out, next to a building. Great image!  😆 😉 😀

Here are some pictures of the minimum space layout I've been working on at school with some year 9s.  The layout is 6' x 2' and fits neatly on a shelf at the side of my classroom.  The radii of the curves are about 9", but I have about 10 locos that will run on it fine./media/tinymce_upload/869b702762429bb5e47f8c3f89f16035.jpg

@Caiptean.

Yes, this layout is definitely not to be taken too seriously.  I don't think I'm likely to be asked "Is that EM gauge or P4?" 😳

Still, there is plenty of opportunity for shunting as well as watching trains go round and round.

There is a lot of work to do here, but I have started. Need to build platforms for Havant, and I will probably replace the 40 year old Airfix station models.

I’m just getting into the hobby, but this is what my first-time layout is going to be. It’s 6 x 4 so very modest in size, but I have many ideas to make it work. Long road ahead.../media/tinymce_upload/f824dc700c83b63f6230b523e0e72248.jpg
