Yes, there are a few different versions of the TC Pacific.

Some have a working light, some have smoke units, and a few have both the light and smoke!

The earliest have the Pilot (Cowcatcher) moulded on the body, and the front bogie has no coupling, or a mounting for one.

Like all the early Princess locos, front couplings were not fitted....

There is no working light. The light is just a clear plastic moulding, incorporating the loco running number plate.

The next variation has the Pilot as a black plastic moulding that is fitted to a front bogie with the Mk2b (Open Loop) coupling. The Princess locos use the same bogie, but the Pilot moulding is replaced by a moulding integral with the front steps.

The headlight is represented by an eyelet in a hole.

The MKIII Coupling (introduced in 1959) caused another version of the front bogie. This one has the Pilot as a part of the cast metal bogie frame.  The Princess locos had another version, with the front steps as part of the casting.

In 1961, some TC Pacifics were fitted with the Seuthe type smoke unit.

From 1964, some TC Pacifics werefitted with the Synchrosmoke Smoke Unit .

 Hi Big big train

I know for sure one version of Hiawatha had the Flying Scotsman tender as I have one it looks weird without the buffers on the tender

I still have not been able to pin down a Lima buffing plate off of one of the Lima Australian diesels to see if it can be fitted to the tender without any brutality to do so.

To me this particular version of Hiawatha looks best with the dark blue or plain silver modern TC coaches or the 1980's? for the Australian market VR or NSWGR coaches the tender gives it an Australian rather than USA / Canadian look

Shame it doesn't have buffers on the tender and that they can't be fitted to the loco front easy as that would make the loco look complete and visually mark it as definitely an Australian Locomotive.

The TC Pacific with the "Flying Scotsman" tender (in black, with the running number 1542 on it.) was made around 1973, mainly for the Austraiian market, but was also sold elsewhere, including the UK. (There was a Freight Train Set, with the Australian Container wagon, etc. We actually had one for Christmas! From a Mail Order Catalogue. As our mother was an agent, a lot of our stuff came mail order!

The "FS" tender was fitted with "Exhaust Steam Sound"....a special rear pony truck with a special drawbar was fitted to mate with the tender "loop" coupling.

It would seem that the buffers on the tender would only need the heads fitting, as they were of the moulded stock and inserted head type?

Jaz Avalley, welcome to the Hornby Forum.  😀

I love your the layout. The detail is amazing. I love all of the images you have posted, but my favourite has to be image's no. 8477, no. 6481, no. 6222 and no. 5460.

What is with the four-digit numbers? What do they mean? Some of the numbers are not even close to each other!  😆

Great pictures. Just a small point of clarification. You are only restricted to two posts for the first 24 hours of your time on here. After that there are no restrictions. It's a feature put in place to prevent spamming.

Lovely pictures both Jess and Sarah. Love the little figure cameos.

I really need to get my Terrier running again, but need to convert it to DCC.

Mine is not as good as these two, lot of groundwork to be done, but here are a couple of snaps. I do have videos, can we post those?

EdMarra, is that image supposed to be black and white, or have I gone colour blind all of a sudden?!  😆 😉 😀

Great image.  😀

GNR-Gordon-4 (HF)

Thank you!  I had it in color, but I was thinking of doing something else with it, to look vintage.  When I put it to black and white, for some reason it looked better!

Glad you like it!  I'll post more photos soon!
